Bell's role confirmed in Great Missing Bag Caper

There was an interesting item in ProFootballTalk.com last night concerning two of Detroit's running backs -- recently signed free agent Rudi Johnson and the recently released Tatum Bell. Check out the story here.

A source close to the situation confirmed that it did happen. Whether it was a prank or misunderstanding or something else, that has yet to be determined, but Johnson was "pretty miffed'' according to the source.

Lions president Matt Millen and Johnson, who had been meeting in Millen's office, searched all over the building for the bag. When they couldn't find it, Millen offered Johnson several hundred dollars to tide him over until they could figure out what happened to the bag. As the PFT story indicates, they finally found out what happened and recovered the bag.

An interesting twist is that, earlier on Monday, Bell and Johnson had a good conversation about the city of Detroit, the team, practice schedules, etc. According to the source, though, that was before Bell "put two and two together'' about Johnson's presence in Detroit.

So it seems he would've gotten away with it, but they caught it on camera......

but why tatum why?!?!?
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

How do we suck when we were a .500 team in a tough division?

And you know, you should have been changed your Realgm name.

This shows that Tatum Bell can't carry his own ****, even off the field
Brother Mouzone: You're the perfect bait. They will view you as conflicted, you're homophobia is so visceral.

Lamar: See that. I haven't even walked in the place yet and you're already calling me a c0cksucker.

Thats the keyword there.

Selvin Young
Tatum Bell
Mike Anderson
Reuben Droughns

and even Clinton Portis.

Those are Denver's leading rushers for the majority of the past decade. Those guys are all bums. Even Clinton Portis, who use to average 5.5 y/c hasn't even gone over 4.5 y/c since he left Denver. One whole yard less.

Denver's scheme relies on mobile lineman, which benefit running backs(even sucky ones), and mobile QBs.

Tatum Bell sucks.

Portis is an elite NFL running back. Considering we got him for Chump Bailey, I say it was a great trade.

Denvers defense is still beyond terrible anyways. James Jones, a 3rd round rookie made Chump look like a complete moron on MNF last year.

I'd rather have Champ Bailey than Clinton Portis. Bailey is still the best CB in the league although the gap is closing. Portis might not even a Top 5 RB (LT, Westbrook, Peterson, S. Jackson, Addai are all better IMO).

Hahaha Champ Bailey can't cover someone forever. He did the best he could considering the Broncos applied absolutely 0 pressure that game and for most of the season last year.

Portis: I Wish I Still Had The Denver Offensive Line
12th September, 2008 - 5:25 pm
Washington Post wrote:Clinton Portis doesn't regret the trade that sent him from the Broncos to the Redskins, but he does wish he could run behind a better offensive line, according to Washington Post.

"I really wish," Portis said, "that I could switch places."

He ran for 1,262 yards on 325 carries in Washington last season.

"I wish I could go to a team for one week with the best offensive line, or the team with the best scheme, and switch places with their back and see how others would do in this system," Portis said. "I get a lot of touches with nowhere to run. I could see if I got all those touches and had some lanes, but there's nine or 10 men in the box."

Portis rushed for 84 yards on 23 carries against the Giants in the team's season opener last Thursday.

"You know, I'm dodging all the people in the backfield, fighting just to get back to the line of scrimmage, and people [are] looking around like, 'Oh, he just missed it.' I'm dodging people getting the handoff, because nobody's really respecting us as a passing team."

"Now, I can't look back and say, 'Man, I wish I was still in Denver,' because I think being here made me a man."

Quit bitching Clinton.

I'd take Champ Bailey over Portis anyday, but like others have said, you can't depend on the CB covering the receivers all game, there has to be some legit pass protection.

Same goes for the RBs. You can't expect a running back to run without a line.

I'd take Bailey over Portis because I'm old school. Defense > Offense.

How is he bitching? He's right. Our offensive line has sucked balls his whole career in DC. 2004 we were injured and terrible. 2005 was his best season. 2006 he ended up getting injured for making a tackle on a Brunell interception. 2007 we lost 3/5ths of our offensive line and this year it doesn't look much better.

and who ever works the REALGM NFL wiretap isn't very smart. No where in the article Portis said that he still wished he had the Denver offensive line. Good job on misquoting on him.

He's still a top 5 back in the league and Champ Bailey has not made the Denver defense any better. They are still going to get roasted by average NFL offenses.
