I admit, I stole this from the ESPN front page, but I was thinking about this last night.

My vote is for the Seahawks. Not just because I had them as my preseason Super Bowl pick, but because they play in (possibly) the weakest division in football.

I like the chargers...their offense can put up some serious points....plus you can never count a team with L.T out....

Chargers: They would be 1-1 if it weren't for a blown call and have more than enough talent to make up for the slow start (as they proved last year). They'll also get a nice boost when Cooper comes back; he's quietly become one of the three or four most important guys on that defense and with Merriman out they really need him (he's out due to discipline issues rather than injury, so he should be at 100% right from the get go).

Seattle: Someone has to win that division. It sucks they gave the Cards a two game head-start and all, but Arizona will give them a chance to catch up again.**

Cleveland/Jacksonville: I still think these are both good teams, but 0-2 is a tough way to start in the uber competitive AFC. Both are capable of catching up, but at this point it seems more likely that they'll get edged out, imo.

As for the Vikings, I never expected them to make the playoffs anyway, but do have to admit that I find it hilarious to watch the same media "experts" who picked them to be this year's surprise team dive from the band-wagon in droves. Why, because they lost two very close games against extremely good teams? And please, no one say "but Tavaris Jackson is awful!" because he was just as bad last year, and everyone knew how bad he was when making their predictions. So while I never expected the Vikings to be a great team, if you were one of the many drones who did, nothing that has happened so far this year should be enough to change your opinion.

**Not saying I think 'Zona is bad or anything -- I actually expect them to sneak up on 9-7 or so -- the point is simply that this is not like spotting a Dallas/Pittsburgh/etc. type team a two game lead to start the year, where you'd be totally screwed.

I picked Seattle because they are going to get healthier and because they can come back in a weak division. They've got to avoid the clunker efforts like last week though.

The Jaguars are dead in the water. I'll be surprised if they get out of last place in the AFC South. The OL issues just killed them, and it's more clear every drive that Garrard had one of those fluke seasons never to come close to replication again.

Cleveland is in real trouble and the playoffs are a major longshot. But I do give them credit for playing the two best teams in the league thus far, and if Romeo Crennel could count they might have beaten the Steelers. Big game this week.

Chargers could easily be 2-0, but it's been my experience that teams who start the year losing heartbreakers wind up digging too big a hole. Look at the Vikings last year: Week 2 OT loss to DET, Week 3 last-second loss to KC. They wound up missing the playoffs by one game and both those games should have been victories. The Steelers were like that the year before.

The Chargers and Seahawks have a shot. The NFC West is weak, and we havent seen the best of the Cardinals yet, so thats a question mark and the AFC West is anybodys game between the Broncos and Chargers.
