Tavaris Jackson benched, Gus Frerotte starter

ESPN - Vikings' head coach Brad Childress named Gus Frerotte the starter for the remainder of the season, announcing the decision at his Wednesday media availability.

I don't like it..at least give Jackson a chance..he's struggling, but the playcalling has been terrible, and he hasn't had much of a chance..they haven't utilized Peterson and Taylor enough in the passing game(screens, short passes)..surely that would help the Vikings offense and get Jackson in a rhythm..they need to show a little confidence in him..he isn't THAT bad..

Yeah, he is that bad. He's shown absolutely nothing his entire career to make you think he can be a starter. I never got why they thought he was good enough, and it seems like Childress now realizes he isn't.

What a bad decision by Minny. I can understand this from a team's decision in the fact that T-Jack is struggling, but I would have given him some more time to develop. I thought he was the QB of the future for Minny. Heck if Childress is giving up on T-Jack then why not give JDB the job and see what he can do.

Jackson sucks, I do not know if Ferotte makes that much better. That is a position they should of addressed. I could see a trade coming possibly parting ways with Taylor? I do not know who they could pick up, but that is a position of need for them.

How many starts do you get before it's considered a chance? Jackson has 15-16 starts under his belt, which is more than most get with the level of success he's had.
Jackson has been hurt by conservative play calling, which is probably because the coaching staff didn't trust him. Of course if they didn't trust him, they shouldn't have gone into the season with him as the starter.

Jackson may be a bad passer, but no QB is going to be successful under Childress.

Adam Schefter said it best, ultimately it came down to shiancoe or whatever his name was dropping that touchdown pass vs the colts. If he catches that, the Vikings go up 23-0 and pretty much seal the win. And i HIGHLY doubt a coach switches QBs after a win.
