Half-Year Awards

Post#1 » by treiz » Mon Oct 27, 2008 10:59 am

Alright, so we're just about half way through the season who are your winners for:

MVP
DPOY
OROY
DROY
COY

(If you want to add some awards feel free to do so). For me...

MVP: Drew Brees or Clinton Portis
DPOY: Joey Porter
OROY: Matt Ryan
DROY: Dwight Lowery (some hint of homerism there)
COY: Jim Zorn

I know you're a Skins fan, but how can you deny Jeff Fisher the COY award at this point in the season?

lol....Im a Jets fan, check the sig, I even put Dwight Lowery as my DPOY

Anyway, yeah I gues Jeff Fiher does make a point, but what impresses me more about Zorn is that this is his first year and look at how good the Redskins are

MVP - Clinton Portis
DPOY - Haynesworth
OROY - Chris Johnson (Forte will win this, though. He'll have some huge games as teams start planning to stop Orton)
DROY - No idea. Haven't been paying attention to many defensive rookies.

Seriously not being a homer this time even though I picked three Skins.

MVP: Albert Haynesworth
OPOY: Drew Brees
OROY: Matt Ryan edges out Chris Johnson
DROY: Chris Horton and I don't really think it's close
COY: Bill Belichick. How many coaches would really have the Pats in 1st place with no Brady and that pathetic excuse of a secondary?

Some others:
Comeback player: Daniel Bullocks of the Lions, who has been a very bright spot on the feces that is the Detroit Lions
Most unsung players: Chris Harris, S, Carolina; Brendan Ayanbadejo, ST, Baltimore; Barrett Ruud, LB, Tampa Bay
Most Improved: D'Qwell Jackson. Compare him to Demeco Ryans and you'll be shocked at what you find, and he has emerged as a leader with teeth on a quickly-improving Browns D
Most surprising: John St. Clair playing some pretty sound LT in Chicago. Without him Kyle Orton wouldn't be choice #2 here.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

I was going to make one of those "Chuck Norris" type jokes with Jeff Fisher, but I figured it doesn't do Jeff Fisher justice...

Instead, let's all marvel at his glorious, well-groomed 'stache

MVP: Clinton Portis
DPOY: DeMarcus Ware
OROY: Matt Ryan
DROY: Jerod Mayo
COY: Jeff Fisher/Bill Belichick

The Mayo pick is a bit homerish, but he has done a great job integrating into the complex defensive schemes for the Patriots. There are times where he looks like a 5-year Belichick vet.

Mayo has been outstanding for us. I hope he gets noticed.

MVP- I will go with portis. But how about Kurt Warner? He has been playing great so far. The losses diminish it though.

DPOY-Haynesworth. Hands down. Other players, Charles Woodson, and Joey Porter.

OROY-Matty Ice!!! Hands down. Chris Johnson has been good though.

DROY-Jerod Mayo.

COTY I am with most of you on the split of BB and Fisher. But you can't overlook what Mike Smith has done for Atlanta. Turned the Franchise around.
