Two 0-16 teams in 2008?
Cincinnati and Detroit are well on their way to making it happen. Let's examine.
CINCINNATI BENGALS' REMAINING SCHEDULE
Jacksonville
BYE
Philadelphia
@Pittsburgh
Baltimore
@Indianapolis
Washington
@Cleveland
Kansas City
DETROIT LIONS' REMAINING SCHEDULE
@Chicago
Jacksonville
@Carolina
Tampa Bay
Tennessee
Minnesota
@Indianapolis
New Orleans
@Green Bay
The Bengals have the best chance at getting a win, against Kansas City in the last game of the season. Both teams will be playing for pride, but anyone who's bothered to watch the Bengals has seen just how little pride they play with. Beyond that, Cleveland and Indianapolis are the two most beatable opponents, but those are road games. Even Washington will likely be jockeying for its playoff spot and will go hard against Cincy.
Detroit's best shot at a win of any kind looks like next week against Chicago on the road. MAYBE they're able to knock off Minnesota when the Vikings visit Ford Field, but that's highly doubtful. Pretty much every other game is a bankable loss for the Lions.

Re: Two 0-16 teams in 2008?
yea i thought that about the lions a couple weeksa ago after browsing there schedule, i had no idea the bengals schedule was just as hard. but the bengals best shot is the home game vs. baltimore and then @ cleveland (though they're starting to turn it around) and vs. KC
the only reason id give them a chance vs. baltimore is b/c of the rookie qb but i really like what flacco's been doing.

Change the final games to Kansas City @ Green Bay and Detroit @ Cleveland if the teams are still without a win in the final week. It would be interesting to see if either team gave up the no. 1 overall pick to get a win.

Bengals have looked worse and worse... Detroit has looked slightly better as of late.

Detroit only looks good enough to not embarass themselves but not good enough to win. I think they could finally get that O-fer.... but knowing the Lions... they'd screw it up and get a win and lose the first pick.

I wonder what Detroits chances are if they do indeed sign Daunte Culpepper.

He's Pats 19 and 0 after all. I'm sure he learned his lesson now.

I think when it realistically comes down to it, the best chance either team is got at winning anything will come down to the coin flip at the end of the season to determine who gets the number 1 pick. You know, if they both go 0-16.

Re: Two 0-16 teams in 2008?
lions best chance is probably at home against the vikes (unless the vikes somehow turn it around and become decent)
i mean they only lost 12-10 at Minnesota

The winless lions will beat the undefeated titans on thanksgiving.
I also think cincy gets a win. No team will go winless.

Re: Two 0-16 teams in 2008?
I doubt they will end up going winless. Too many variables out there and they are bound to get a few lucky breaks here and there. Not to mention crazy weather in winter usually causes for some weird outcomes.
Not sure if Culpepper would improve the Lions any though if they do sign him.

Re: Two 0-16 teams in 2008?
Gotta say I'm surprised it was Cincy winning before Detroit. The Lions already should have one win but the refs decided Minnesota needed the win more.
Jacksonville is next for DET, fresh from being Cincy's first victim. That was no fluke bad day either; once Henderson got ejected the Jaguars DL couldn't stop me, let alone Ced Benson (who ran with authority and confidence BTW). Kevin Smith can do the same, and at this point Dan Orlovksy has shown more than Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB. IDK if DET will win but I sure as heck would take the points and the Lions.

It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game
