Culpepper Agrees To Deal With Lions
1st November, 2008 - 6:10 pm
ESPN - Daunte Culpepper has reportedly agreed on a two-year deal with the Lions a little more than a month after he announced his retirement.

Culpepper agreed Saturday to a two-year deal with Detroit. Terms of the deal, scheduled to be signed on Monday, are unknown.

He is expected to be the team's starting quarterback

I'm glad to see him back, I got a chance to meet him over the summer, really cool guy.

If he's got anything left in the tank?.....Culpepper to Moss 2.0 ?

On a side note, I'm glad to see him back in the league, but I don't know why the Lions are doing this, they aren't going anywhere soon, so wouldn't it make sense to play the young guys and see what they can do?

Either way...

will we now see this?

Still a good QB in my mind. But if I were Daunte, I would have chosen the Chiefs. Maybe the chiefs weren't offering him 2 years though.

Sorry to say, but I think he's done. He's been done for a while now. I hope the Lions aren't expecting him to be their savior or anything.

I agree.. he's just not accurate enough to be a starting QB anymore... but CJ really doesnt need much to do well.

After seeing him with the Raiders, it wasn't the line, it wasn't the recievers... Daunte couldn't hit the broad side of a barn... he was then what JaMarcus is now... welcome to our hell..

How to read this move:
--One of Dan Orlovsky or Drew Stanton will not be back next year. Seeing as how Stanton is now back to 3rd string, I would bet he gets the axe.
--This buys the Lions draft leverage. Now they can take a more developmental type QB and have him sit and learn for a year or two behind whomever wins the Culpepper/Orlovsky battle next summer. That's the difference between taking Matt Stafford #1 and Tim Tebow or Colt McCoy at #33.
--The Lions front office is trying to send a message to the players that they aren't giving up on the season, that they are still trying to piece together a solid football team.
or, most likely
--they needed a scout team QB who can complete more than 40% of his passes, which is why Drew Stanton won't be back next year. The Lions DBs and WRs have been complaining about that all year.

He doesn't have good accuracy and hes lost quite a bit of his speed, i believe hes done, but he has had a good amount of time to rest up from anything possibly wrong, last shot for him.

What, hosting the Madden series wasn't a good enough job? Still, the Lions should be tanking, not upgrading at qb.

Daunte is still a solid qb but chosing the lions wasn't a good choice bc he still wont win even though kc isnt a good team either i still think they are better than detroit
