I'm already laughing at their future attempts to get Scott Pioli.

No surprise here. The Browns were horrible this season. They need a change, maybe Bill Cowher will be available.

Why would Cowher take that mess of a franchise over?
IMO, from what I've heard and read living in Charlotte, his ideal goal was to take over for Fox @ Carolina, assuming they faltered this season, but Fox's job is safe for another year; given that Cowher's family is in NC and his daughter(s?) are going to school in NC, as well.
$ won't be a deciding factor, because anywhere he does go, he's going to get paid.

Savage doomed himself with the profane email to a fan. Mr. Lerner will not tolerate that.
Cowher is the main target for sure. I wouldn't hold my breath for him either, like Flash said. And he's just the coach, not the GM. Those Marty rumors have some basis in reality despite what he says too.
One guy who will get hired somewhere, perhaps Cleveland: Ted Sundquist, the guy Shanahan forced out in Denver. He is widely respected across the league and he's been out evaluating talent even though he's unemployed. I'm hoping he goes to Detroit but Cleveland is a much better situation. That team can turn it around very quickly--the OL, DL, ILB, and QB positions are in good shape and the starting secondary is decent. They desperately need reliable playmakers on offense and depth on defense, and a pass rusher would be nice.
