Just saw this. You can't finish the season like that and expect to keep your job.

Maybe take a look at the quarterback and how he played.

Thank God, I hated his conservative ways. I also hate Favre, damn you just retire!

He didn't deserve this. That wasn't a very good team but he got 23-26 out of them. Not to mention, how do you keep a coach after 4-12 but fire him after 9-7? That team will have a markedly worse record next year.

Kind of a surprising move. I thought the Jets had a little thing going with Mangini. He is going to get another job soon, possibly as a DC.

I was intentionally ignoring the Jets this year (Favre), but this surprises me as well. I would have thought 9-7 exceeded expectations.

That's beautiful, way to ruin an organization NY. I know it's hard to believe, but in 3 years when this blows up in their face it will be so much more fun. Favre over Mangini?! Ahahahaha.

Knee jerk move. If he was fired for Favre's corpse, it makes it look even worse.

Tuna rumor:

According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Dolphins VP of Football Operations Bill Parcells is telling those close to him that he would consider coaching again if the right situation comes about.

Parcells has an out in his contract if Wayne Huizenga sells the Fins to current co-owner Stephen Ross. ESPN reported Sunday that Parcells might jump to another team as GM, but the Star-Ledger says the Tuna would also be interested in coaching the talent he evaluates. Any team pursuing Parcells would obviously have to realize he's a short-term solution. If Parcells does return to the sidelines, the Jets would appear to be his best fit.

Whether intentionally or unintentionally Favre had something to do with this.

Yea I think so too. If Favre comes back, they'll be around 7 or 8 wins. If he doesn't, 4 or 5 wins. They'll be at or below .500 next season.

Why not? Storybook ending for Parcells if he does return and lead the team back to dominance and even a Super Bowl. But we're a long ways away from that.

Sutton was the first guy that needed to be fired, dude cost us a few games. We need someone with attitude in NY, after watching what Parcells did I really hope he comes to us. However I would be curious as to what type of role he would accept. I dont buy the Cowher talk at all, but I do want a first time coach that is a defensive dude. Bring in a new offensive coordinator, one that actually utilizes his players. Mangini is not the only problem, but he sure was one of em.

Who's the GM for the Jets? Dude is awful. Trading for Brett, firing Mangini, and caving in on rookie demands that sent rookie payscale to astronomical proportions, and not to mention all those crazy contracts they gave their FAs.

Isn't that who you just fired?

Fun fact: Favre is older than Mangini.
