Jones unhappy with Favre's play

Post#1 » by Geddy » Fri Jan 2, 2009 4:36 am

If Brett does choose to return to the Jets he might have to deal with some unhappy teammates next season. With the way some guys have been talking about him it looks like he should start looking at other teams if he wants to come back for another season.

"We're a team and we win together ... but at the same time, you can't turn the ball over and expect to win," Jones said in an interview Tuesday with New York Hot 97 FM. Favre threw three interceptions in the Jets' season-ending 24-17 loss to Miami that clinched the AFC East for the Dolphins.

"If somebody is not playing well, they need to come out of the game," Jones told Hot 97 FM. "You're jeopardizing the whole team because you're having a bad day. To me, that's not fair to everybody else. You're not the only one on the team. So when you get to the wire and somebody is just giving the game up, I mean, it's just not [fair]."

A veteran Jets player, quoted anonymously by Newsday, described Favre as a "distant" teammate who, when at the Jets' practice facility, spent his down time away from teammates in an office specially designated for him.

"There was a lot of resentment in the room about him. He never socialized with us, never went to dinner with anyone," the player told Newsday.

TJ should never criticize another player's performance after only having 1 touchdown on the WHOLE season last year. I'm sure jones was happy with favre's performance when they were winning games but once they start losing he throws brett under the bus. What a great teammate

Yeah, and the last five games where the Jets went 1-4, Favre had 2 TD's and 9 INT's.

it wasnt his fault he had no line, give him a line, and he makes the pro-bowl, with the running game it is a 2 man game, the line and the RB...

Im not trying to make excuses for Favre, but he was playing hurt, he has been for a while now. That aside, Jones needs to keep his mouth shut. You shouldn't bash a teammate, especially to the media, when that teammate has a bad game. Im sure Favre feels bad enough about it already. Not to mention that it wasn't Favre's fault guys were dropping passes, not diving for balls, giving up on D, and playing with absuloutly no passion at all. Those players were playing for their season and they treated it like a preseason game.
Im pretty freakin awesome........

I can see where Thomas Jones is coming from because Favre has played poorly to say the least...
But to let it out in the public is just wrong..and its not like kellen clemons has proven himself...so...

With the way Favre was playing yes I would have benched him too. You play like garbage you can watch.

Works both ways. The Jets were always a 9-7 team. Their wins just came bunched in such a way that it made them look scarier than they were. The Titans game was their Superbowl.

Teammates are throwing Favre under the bus because he's high-profile and they know he'll be gone. No one would lay blame like that on a guy expected to be in the locker room the following year. This is a convenient way for them to gloss over the fundamental problems facing the team.

Thomas Jones was on First Take & was asked if he wanted Favre back next season & he kept saying "Its not up to me, thats not my decision."

At least since the late 90s. Most people take this is a cue to retire.
