Fitzgerald was about to be placed in the realm of Jerry Rice all in about two minutes. When Pittsburgh marched back down and stole his history, thunder, and limelight.

Incredible hands, route running, and something special just at his side!

Don't wanna rain on the parade, but he was invisible until the 4th quarter. Just saying.

Yeah, who wants their big plays in 4th quarter?
7 catches, 127 yards and 2 TD's. That's a heck of a game no matter how it was distributed.

Great player, unbelievable playoff performance.

Not to rain on his parade but I would take two players over him right now, after Calvin Johnson and Andre Johnson. Just my personal preference. All three are premier wide receivers and equally as talented, though I think Calvin and Andre have more physical talent.

Calvin Johnson sure, but I'd take Fitzgerald over Johnson without a second thought.

What an epic post season. A couple of minutes away from being the best ever.

So does a lot of NFL players, like Donald Driver and Hines Ward, what's your point?

You're saying Megatron and Andre don't play with heart? I guess you've never seen them play.

Why do I believe Andre is better? Because he doesn't have a Breaston, Boldin, Warner. Yet he produces great numbers. Plus he is more physically talented imo but I'm no scout.

So give a valid argument besides the guy plays with heart because they both do, unless you've never seen Andre play  . I said both these players are extremely talented and I can see why one might choose one over another.

I'm not sure how you could pick anybody over Fitzgerald after what he did in the playoffs. It ain't close right now.

Breaking records for catches, yards and touchdowns in a single postseason is damn impressive.

Fitz is just so technically sound, with excellent body control, technique, route running and hands.

He may be the best receiver today but my thought of mind is that Megatron and Andre will become (if they're not already) as good. Just my personal opinion and hindsight.

Even a mediocre player is bound to make some plays if he's thrown at as much as the Cardinals throw the ball...

I'm not saying Fitzgerald is a mediocre player by any means, but you've gotta take numbers in to perspective, and not take a narrow-minded approach to it.

He's a great player, but he also benefits from a pass-heavy offense that targets its receivers a lot more than any other team in the league.

However, I'd only take Andre Johnson over Larry Fitzgerald. Out of all the WRs in the league, I don't think I've seen one like Andre Johnson where he can attract triple teams and yet still come up with a grab despite being it heavily contested. I've seen Nick Harper on the under coverage and Hope and Griffin on each side of the over coverage and yet Johnson could still come up with the grab. Those kind of plays have left a fairly big impression in my mind.

And I think Andre is super overrated right now. This year was the first year he really put up numbers like an elite receiver, and he still hasn't cracked 8 TD's. I think your judgment is clouded by that monster game he had against the Titans

Andre Johnson DYAR = 489
Next best DYAR = 416 (Roddy White)

Andre Johnson was head and shoulders above all other receivers this season.

FO has moved its historic data to its premium section, but if IIRC, Andre Johnson has placed ahead of Larry Fitzgerald almost every year, and has usually been the cream of the crop in WRs in the past couple of years...

No, Andre really was awesome this year. And he did it on a team with a lesser quarterback that actually put together a usable run game. Calling the poor guy super overrated is kinda mind-boggling to me.

lynn swann probably had the greatest performance.

The basic stuff is still there, the design is just more cumbersome for some stupid reason (you have to choose on the pick position box first before the years will work).

DYAR/DVOA give Fitz the advantage in 05 and 06, but DVOA liked Johnson a lot more in 07 and Andre was ahead of everybody in 08.

Fitzgerald's an elite receiver, without a doubt. But it's becoming annoying how he's getting treated as a generational talent when there's a guy over in Houston who can at least give Larry a run for his money.

Indeed.
Andre Johnson is every bit as talented as Larry Fitzgerald, or maybe even more so. If he played on a pass-heavy team with as much passing talent as Arizona, he could put up just as good,or even exceed the raw numbers that Fitzgerald puts up.

I'm not sure Fitzgerald is being treated like a generational talent. He's being treated like someone who had a generational performance, which he did.

Those arguments might work for regular season numbers, but not in the playoffs. He put up huge numbers against good/great defenses and his team won 3 out of 4. These aren't inflated numbers.

Eh, there's a big difference in DYAR between the top 5 and everyone else, and I don't think Roddy White and Vincent Jackson are top 5 receivers. Seems to penalize the guys in pass heavy offenses too much, even if they aren't getting thrown too so heavily.

per Roddy:

2 games, 15 catches, 23 targets, 232 yards

That was against NO.

8-)

Just sayin....
