His actual contract is 4 years 48 million. He will never see the rest of it.

Let's remember that it was the Redskins who signed him. They have a history of signing players to big contracts but they end up releasing them after a year or two. I'm just going to sit here and laugh at the Redskins because Daniel Synder obviously has NO idea how to build a team with chemistry. I won't be too surprised if Haynesworth goes down with an injury or be a big disappointment next year.

It's a $48 million deal over 4 years. But its not going to matter what the contract really is because the media will look at the $100 million figure.

even 12 million a year is too much for a dt

Then every single defensive tackle and defensive end in the league is overpaid because that's pretty much the premium contract right there.
Snyder didn't set a market. Owners before him did, the Jared Allen's getting $32 million guaranteed, etc.
The Titans offer was like $3 million less per year than this one.

some of you have no clue about football. it is the 2nd most important position on the team after quarterback. the steelers, a very powerful defensive front. the year before that, the giants, the best defensive line in football. the colts, fast and powerful with another high contract, dwight freeney. the patriots have had a powerful front. the tampa bay bucaneers, warren sapp. the baltimore ravens, absolutely brick wall of a defensive front. so the list is long in regards to the top teams with powerful front lines, take their teams all the way, or at least get them in contention.

jay ratiliff with the cowboys had the exact same year as haynesworth last year and he plays in a 3-4 which is harder to play for a dt and doesnt make nearly that number

Freeney and Sapp are DEs. This topic is about DTs.

what funny, pull the numbers they are identical, and d tackles in a 3-4 have it much harder

You're using raw data to compare DTs? That's laughable.
Also DTs in 3-4 and 4-3 have different responsibilities. One's not necessarily harder than the other.

I think 99.9% of DT's are not worth that...
But if there was ever one it would be Sapp in his Prime and Haynesworth the last 2 years....
The question now is though..can he be productive in a non contract year!?
