Igor Olshansky signs a deal with the cowboys. I think this great for us because we get a nice replacement for Canty. Thoughts on this signing?

Real solid move. He's exactly the type of player they need--nothing spectacular but good all-around, understands his role, knows the defense, low-maintenance in the locker room.

FYI Cowboys fans--both a scout and the OL coach were at GVSU's pro day today checking out Sam Allen. Only 11 teams there and he impressed, very good late-round T prospect though he's on the light side (I think I heard 297) right now.

Apparently the main reason the Packers didn't heavily pursue this guy was because

"Two league sources, including one with the Chargers, said that once it became apparent to Olshansky that he wouldn't be getting a lucrative contract extension from San Diego, it appeared as if he shut down to preserve his health and, as a result, was nearly invisible the second half of last season. It got so bad that he was benched for four of the Chargers' final eight games after he had started the previous 54 in which he had appeared.

Olshansky's poor effort down the stretch not only infuriated the coaches and front office, but also some of his teammates. They had known him to be absurdly arrogant -- to the point that some players thought he was a joke -- but when you don't start pulling your weight, players don't have much tolerance for that."

Wow, someone has a huge bone to pick in that article. Shame that Igor has to bear the brunt of it. Looks like someone was just sore that Igor didn't sign with his favorite team.

Igor will apply consistent pressure, but he won't rack up too many stats...although, in Dallas' defense, that might not be necessary.
