Good move for the Bills if you ask me. Mainly because they only had to give him a one-year deal.

In fact, I would question why teams like the Redskins and Titans didn't pursue Owens. You have to believe he would've chosen a stronger contender if he could have. And he has a history of playing very well when he has something to prove. I understand his reputation and his track record, but at the same time offering one year is a very low risk to take. If you win, TO stays happy and everything is good. And if you lose, you don't have to keep him around the next year.

I really thought Washington was a perfect fit. Big-armed QB, good compliment WR in Santana, four games a year that TO could consider "revenge" games (against Philly and Dallas), and an owner who likes to make free agency splashes. But I read somewhere that they were one of the teams who weren't interested at all from the start.

Wow.

One of two things will happen, he will push this Bills team, who were very close last year, over the top, or he will come in and complain about Lee Evans and Lynch getting all the touches, or how Edwards is the worst QB he has ever played with. Either way, I will bring the popcorn, because T.O. versus Moss, twice a year, will definitely be a show! :droop:

I think this will workout nicely for Buffalo, especially with Trent Edwards with more experience under his belt. The locker room stuff won't be such a problem because Buffalo isn't going to get as much coverage as the Cowboys, and that means less time for BSPN to make up their tabloid drama.

Didn't even think of that. That's going to be fun to watch.

My buddy thought I was an idiot saying TO would be going to the Bills. Seems like a good fit to me and might put them over the hump to make the playoffs.

I see two things here:
1. TO really opens up the field for Lee Evans and Roscoe Parrish, which gives them the potential for a very strong passing attack. With Jackson and the games they squeeze out of Lynch before he gets banned for life, plus what could be a solid OL, the Bills should be able to score some serious points.

2. That locker room is probably the least-prepared to handle TO, and I put the over/under at 7 quarters before TO snaps at Trent Edwards for sucking. They've got a wishy-washy lame duck coach, a distressed owner who can remember the Great Depression, and one of the most rudderless, leaderless locker rooms in recent NFL history. And boom goes the dynamite...

I've been toying with the thought of next year's Bills being like this past year's Lions. Start strong the year before, then fade badly under a suspect coach, a mistake-prone QB who can't get the ball to the talented WR corp, quality RBs with nowhere to run because the line regresses and has no fire, and a defense that can't get off the field and has no identity. Now you add TO, easily the most divisive black hole in pro sports.

I can't see any team ever going 0-16 again, but if I had to write their seasno forecast today, I'd predict 2-14. Sans TO it doubles to 4-12
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

could be a good offense, if TO doesn't destroy the team's chemistry

Premature, but oh well.

Buffalo won 7 games this past season. So, with the addition of TO, how many games do you think they win this year?

They need to sell tickets. The fanbase haven't ever been this distraught. But Owens is normally on good behavior for the first year but I'm not sure how he gels with Edwards.

If he wants Owens could destroy this team. The locker room is full of nice, soft guys. Not a lot of leaders at all.

I think it's a slight misconception that T.O. opens up the field for other recievers, even since it was discovered last year that press coverage plays a huge part in disrupting his game. Maybe the Cowboys didn't do a good enough job of using motion to get him open, but still as a reciever I think he should be able to modify his game to get around the press coverage opposing coaches use against him.

And if he doesn't have that game against the 49ers last year, where Singletary didn't press him at the line of scrimmage and he goes off for 200+yds, then he has less than 1000yds recieving on the season.

He is still a reciever that can find the end zone though, and that's valuable to any team.

He does seem to be on good behavior in his first year with a new team, so the 1 year length was a smart move by the Bills imo.

This all got me thinking of something, and I'm on the brink of asking for a lobotomy just for having the thought...

...what if Brett Favre re-un-retires to QB the Bills?

Jets hold rights on him still, right? Didn't he sign a two year deal. No way they let him go to buffalo.

...Favre? Really? After how he bombed in the playoffs in 2007 with the Packers and played average with the Jets? Even with Favre...the Bills would still be longshots to win the Super Bowl, seeing as how Brett hasn't won anything since the 90s. And they'd also stunt and possibly damage the growth of a QB who seems to be gaining confidence.

The Bills shouldn't be trying to sell their souls to win a title next year. They should try to be entertaining with a good offense, sell seats during a bad economic year, and get their young players better through development. Signing TO makes sense because he feels a void on the team and will, like it or not, sell tickets. Signing Favre, even if Favre is interested, makes no sense at all to me.
