Donte Stallworth kills a pedestrian

Stallworth was headed toward the beach when he hit a 49-year-old man around 7 a.m., said Miami Beach police spokesman Juan Sanchez. The unidentified pedestrian was taken to a nearby trauma center, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later. He was near a crosswalk but it's not clear if he was crossing legally.

Stallworth was cooperating and no charges have been filed, Sanchez said. Officers drew his blood to test for drugs or alcohol, which is routine, but police said it was too early to tell if Stallworth was impaired or violating traffic laws. Police would not say where he was coming from or where he was headed.

Sounds like it was accidental, given Stallworth's co-operation and all. Condolences to the victim's family and let's hope this turns out... well, not okay, but as close to okay as possible.

This wasn't the first time Stallworth has had driving incidents. I am almost positive he got a DUI and or a bunch of speeding violations when he was with the Saints.

Also, wasn't he in the NFL's drug program?

The guy should be hit hard if he was drunk.

I'll be sick to my stomach if this is another Leonard Little disaster.

I'm pretty sure Stallworth had a pot charge when he was a rookie or in his second year.

As for this has anybody heard if this was a DUI or anything?

It doesn't necessarily matter that it wasn't on purpose. If I'm not mistaken, I think he can still be charged with involuntary manslaughter if he was breaking the law when he did it (if he was drunk, high, speeding, if the guy was on a crosswalk).

It's obvious that he didn't run over the guy on purpose, but if you're breaking the law and accidentally kill someone you're not going to get any sympathy. That said, I haven't heard anything about him breaking any laws. I imagine if he was we'd know by now.

I have to say, a lot of athletes or famous people would have probably tried to flee the scene knowing they had been drinking. At least he didn't do that. In fact he cooperated apparently. Still, throw him in jail please.

The Miami Police say they haven't received the results from his blood test, so i don't know who else would have received them and reported that he was drunk
