Peppers to New England?

Post#1 » by Dirty Water » Mon Mar 16, 2009 7:47 pm

Pats would send the pick they just got from KC for Peppers. Peppers would then slide to OLB. Will be completed in a week or so.

it speaks to the other thread about having a strong defensive front. look at the patriots, they are following their gameplan and continuing the front line strength. and it is the reason for their consistency. sure they have many other parts on their team. but to continue to upgrade that part of their defense is the main reason for their prolonged success.

I'm not sold on Peppers at OLB but other than that, great move for NE. As Panthers mod, though, I can't say I'm too high on it.

I love this move and hope it gets done. The only problem is salary.

Peppers. Bodden. Springs. F. Taylor.

What an off-season this could be for the patriots.

I'm not sold on Peppers as a 3-4 OLB either, but he's got tantalizing potential.

This deal has been brewing for a long time. The Pats had to clear cap $$ and sign everyone else they wanted (Galloway, Bodden) before it could consummate. It worked to the Pats advantage because the trade market that the Panthers envisioned never really developed. I know they expected at least a 1st and a mid-rounder. Looks like they get #34--not high enough to get them a QB, unless they package it with their other 2nd. It also probably won't get them a replacement for Peppers in terms of QB pressure. Not the 08 Peppers anyways, perhaps the 07 version than dogged it through minor injuries and no help on the other side.

Dont forget Galloway and Greg Lewis!!

It seems to be great..
But they really need to start drafting young..
At the moment all I can think of that they have that can last for 10 years is Mayo,Merriweather, Maroney?(is he going to stay)

if they trade up for Rey Rey,

Thomas - Maualuga - Mayo - Peppers
Seymour - Wilfork - Warren

With their offense, this isn't even fair lol

If I were the other 31 teams in the NFL I'd hang up every time the Patriots call. Like is this game rigged? How come they can keep fleecing teams?

Leave me alone FSN.

Springs, Bodden, Taylor, Cassell trade is an excellent offseason already. If they can land Peppers for a 2nd and somehow draft Maualaga who is my favorite draft prospect this year I'll totally lose hope until Robert Kraft goes senile and Belichick goes away.

You're right. :)

As for drafting young, maroney is bleh. Hopefully he can overcome injuries and play well.

Mayo is a stud. Meriweather is slowly transforming into an ed reed like ball hawk. If only he could return them like reed. Gary Guyton and Shawn Crable are two young LB's who really showed off at parts last season, crable got hurt early. Wilhite looks nice at CB. And the jury is still out on Wheatley who got hurt early last year.

Basically, the patriots should be fine for the future, even after this trade, they still have a lot of picks in this years draft.

:droop: rumor has it the patriots are interested in Rey. I would love to see him her playing along side mayo.

I am not pointing this at you. But I fully expect fans to say that a lot if/when this deal goes down. As I have already read some. And personally, it is ridiculous. I mean, make up your mind. First off, they were reports that BB did Pioli and the Chiefs a favor and now they were going to investigate. Now it's going to be how the Patriots stole Peppers away from Car.

IMO, a 2nd rounder, early 2nd rounder, is good value for Peppers. Look at the situation, he's on his way out anyway, and no other deal seemed to entice them.

Well NFL.com came out and reported this, but the Panthers came out quickly to deny. However, all this means is that they are not allowed to comment on any trade until he signs his 1-year deal. Peppers and his agent have the ability to meet with other teams however. I still think it's a done deal, it's just a rule of the Collective Bargaining agreement.

Hopefully this deal doesn't involve anymore negative publicity, I don't want the NFL to come in and maybe put an end to this. Don't let them think Pioli was in on this whole deal. Also isn't it weird to see two Patriots assistants go off somewhere and immediately make these huge commotions.

they shouldve drafted lendale white. he is perfect for the northeast and that snow. he is built low to the ground and pounds out the tough yardage. when you get in the northeast playoff games, you need that tough runner in that weather.

Patriots, Cowboys, Redskins & Eagles.

There was a report a month ago that 2 of the 4 teams were the Eagles and Redskins and it was reported that of the 4 teams, 3 were NFC and 1 was AFC. Everyone kind of guessed it the Pats were the AFC team.

I might of got the Redskins and Cowboys mixed up but I know the Eagles are one of the teams he mentioned.

So he's been a warm-weather guy his whole life and now he wants to play in the cold? Best of luck there...

Carolina should definitely want him in the AFC.
