im sure everyone has heard of the new "tom brady rule" this is pure crap and they are ruining the league, how can you tackle a qb if they are so restricted on what can be done. all i keep hearing is protect the qb, last time i checked thats what the o line is for, if you dont want to get hit get rid of the ball, when the big bens, romos, and vy of the league role out, and throw a td and all looks bad for the defense this is crap

I agree with not going after knees. What they need to change is the 15 yard penalty for slightly tapping a QB's helmet.

Nah, protecting the head is too important to have a gray area there. I don't think the new rule is too terrible, though, it only involves defenders who are already on the ground.

Gray area? Pretty easy to tell when it's a harmless tap. I have seen John Abraham jump in the air trying to bat down a pass and have his pinky finger just brush alongside Jake Delhomme's helmet and get penalized 15 yards. That's (Please Use More Appropriate Word). Not sure Delhomme even knew it had happened until the flag was thrown.

This is a crap rule because it's essentially the same thing as cut blocking. If they want consistency and truly care about the knees of all players, then every single running play by the Broncos, Texans, and Falcons last year should get a flag on their line for doing the exact same thing. It's ridiculously hypocritical.

How DARE you!!!! You edit that title and capitalize his name now!!!

About the topic at hand, I think it should be this way across the board, not just against the qb. If a defender is clearly beat and his only hope is a potential career-ending tackle at the knees then he shouldn't be making that tackle imo.

You're a couple years late on the Falcons thing. I'd say they cut block as much as most teams these days.

When Ray Lewis killed Steve McNair that was ok to make a rule change.
When insert Chief player took out Tom Brady, that was NOT ok to make a rule change.

I say within 15 years it will just become flag football. Ok over exaggerating yeah but this rule is Wow...
