The arrest of Savannah State football star Javorris Jackson in the shooting death of his girlfriend at a hotel early Sunday morning has devastated those who know him.
Jackson, 28, allegedly shot Courtney Solomon, 26, before turning the gun on himself at TownePlace Suites, an extended-stay hotel in Dearborn, Mich., about 2:45 a.m. Sunday, according to Dearborn police. Ex-SSU standout Javorris Jackson held in slaying
Jackson is charged with first-degree murder and a felony firearms offense. He remained hospitalized Thursday, receiving treatment for a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his chest, police said.
"It's baffling because I don't even know Javorris in that way. I know him as the quality person that he is," said former SSU football head coach Theo Lemon, who gave Jackson a scholarship when he transferred from Vermilion Community College in Ely, Minn. Link
