i remember all of 'em, all tragic. but one i remember was jerome brown. i do remember len, bo jackson etc... but jerome brown was just awesome at his particular position. likewise can be said of bo jackson and others. but at the Dline position, those are positions difficult to find. can turn a team around, besides other than the QB, 2nd most important positio on the team. and specifically the Dtackle position. that defense in philly, especially with brown and reggie white on that line?? was simply a wall. the ravens a few years had a tough defensive line that led them to the superbowl. but this philadelphia front was better. stronger. faster. imo. brown, pitts, golic, clyde simmons and the greatest reggie white. simply awesome.

I know it's not a popular take but I don't buy into the imminent greatness of Len Bias. To me he was a bigger Ron Harper, which would have made him a very good but not all-time great NBA player. I would put Petrovic higher simply because he actually accomplished some legit stardom in the NBA and international competition. That guy was scary good--Ray Allen with physicality.

Jerome Brown was fantastic, just a phenomenal talent with real tangible results. He played that elephant position at his weight and body type with such ferocity and agility.

I would include Art Schlichter on the list. I can find you 3 long-time NFL personnel people who will tell you Art was the best collegiate QB in terms of NFL talent between 1973 and 1983. And he gambled it all away. His failure had something to do with the Colts leaving BAL, not a lot but it kept the team from being competitive--they went 2-14 and then 0-8-1 in 81 and 82 and the fans stayed away in droves. Having Schlichter as a franchise QB he should have been would have helped a lot.
