I want your thoughts on Tim Tebow...

Post#1 » by Illyria-United » Fri Jun 19, 2009 12:47 am

I am a huge Tim Tebow fan. Not only is he a superb athlete, but hes also got great character. He can be a great weapon on any football team.

People are now beginning to say that he cannot play QB in the NFL. they say he is not very accurate and not a very good QB in the pocket. (Mel Kipper is one of the sports writers who share this opinion).

I DISAGREE with this statement. Although Tebow needs improvement in his mechanics he is still a good QB. One year or so in the league and he will prove people who doubted him wrong he will be a great NFL QB because of his personality. The guy never gives up he is a born leader. No team should pass him up in the upcoming draft because few players will have the intensity that Tebow has.

Please share in your thoughts.

I agree that he wouldnt be a good fit at QB in the NFL. I think if he scrambled in the pros as much as he did in college he would get injured very frequently. I could see him as a TE with his size and athleticism.

I don't think he'll be as bad as some say, but he's not going to have 5 different targets running around wide open all the time in the NFL. But if a guy like Kyle Orton can have success in the NFL so can Tebow.

3rd down powerback. Dunno if he can block good enough to be everydown fullback, assuming he goes to a team that uses a fullback.

He's a bigger, stronger Michael Vick with better leadership.

^Slightly agree, but Vick was never a "QB" to begin with, and I'll side with the notion that he can't play QB in the NFL.

I'll believe it when I see it....

He's nothing like Vick other than he likes to run.

Physically freakish lefty with a cannon arm that isn't always real accurate, loves to run and has a lot of wiggle when he does, faster than most RBs, kind of streaky, can't read a defense quick enough for a lot of schemes or coaches...they're the same player.

faster than most RBs,

I'd guess he's slower than most RB's, probably around the 4.6 range.

Tebow's running game is much more of a power game. He's not anywhere near as quick as Vick (and Tebow's not going to beat most RB in a race). Tebow is much bigger. His arm isn't as strong as Vick's. He's a little more accurate. Better decision maker. I guess if you have a very simplistic view of the two then they're the same. Lefties with strong arms, like to run, and can struggle with the passing game.

way too big a knock on things like technique and release.

guy can put the ball where it needs to be, accurately and consistently.

i dont see him not being to pick it up if he wants to...

Meyer is working with Tebow a lot this offseason on fixing his slow mechanics and putting him in pro-style sets. Don't be surprised to see Tebow come into next season looking more like a legit NFL QB prospect.
