Which team do you think signs Michael Vick?

Post#1 » by magicfan4life05 » Tue Aug 11, 2009 10:16 pm

There are reports saying he could be signed this week

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4390895

Dungy: Signing could come this week

Michael Vick's personal adviser and his agent believe his return to the NFL is now not a question of "if," but "when" -- and that "when" may come soon.

Former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy, who is helping Vick steer a course from his release from federal prison back to the NFL, said Tuesday on ESPN Radio's "Mike and Mike in the Morning" that he believes "something's gonna happen this week" with the former Atlanta Falcons quarterback.

And Vick's agent, Joel Segal, said Tuesday "there are a lot of teams interested" in signing his client.

Also in the link his agent says there's "no chance" he will sign with the Redskins.

Keep in mind it's been speculated a lot of the teams that have come out already and said NO to Vick, may quietly be showing interest to him.

PFT puts it best

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... sing-vick/

we consistently have heard that some of the teams that have publicly said "no" are privately pursuing Vick.

As we see it, if a team that's on the record as not being interested eventually signs Vick, the waffling will be the least of the franchise's potential P.R. concerns.

So with that said,

where do you think Vick ends up playing this season?

My guess is either Baltimore or Philly.

Even though I haven't hear either team mentioned I wouldn't be shocked to see Cincinnati or Oakland sign him but realistically I think it will probably be Green Bay if anyone.

New England or Green Bay

It's a desperation move by whoever pulls the trigger. Bad Publicity + Layers of Rust. Even when he was starting for the Falcons, he was more or a stadium-filler than a game-winner. I'm sure he kept himself in good shape in prison, but he no longer has the potential he once had, and the jury's out on his ability to fill the seats.

Then again, if Favre was in demand, you know it's a seller's market.

Snyder goes against his better judgement, yet again, & signs Vick.

Looking forward to him playing anywhere. If he can show anywhere near the form he was in 2006 and how well he was progressing as a passer in Petrino's offense before all of the controversy started, a team is going to find itself pretty lucky to get a really good player for a bargain price.

I continue to think San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Jacksonville or New England would be the best fits. He would obviously have a different role in each of them, but we'll see. Hoping everything happens good and he gets a chance to play this season.

I don't like what he did, but I've supported MV7 since the beginning of his career and will continue doing so.

38-28-1 isn't game winning? I believe after 2006, that was fourth or fifth among QB's in the league. That's including a Falcons team for two straight years that was injury decimated on defense. In 2006, John Abraham was injured for most of the year after having a dominating first game against Carolina. In 2005, Brady Smith was injured for most of the season, and their defense couldn't recapture their 2004 frame, where the defense was solid.

That was also including a time where besides Alge Crumpler, he really never had a number one receiver. Peerlice Price is a much better number 2 (he proved that with Buffalo and Moulds) and look what he did when he went back to Buffalo the next year... nothing.

Dez White, Brian Finneran (probably his best receiver - injured in 2005, 2006). Then there was Michael Jenkins, who was reliable but still hasn't developed into a big time receiver yet. Then there was Roddy White who partied and ate Big Macs at McDonalds until 5:30 in the morning, and even admitted that he feels horrible for how he let down Mike when he was the QB. Joe Horn was vital in Roddy becoming a great receiver, and Mike never had a chance to play with the improved Roddy White or the newly acquired Joe Horn.

And don't even get me started on the offensive line, which was tremendous when it came to run blocking (zone blocking scheme - Alex Gibbs) but really struggled when it came to pass protection. When the offensive line held up, and receivers caught the ball, Vick put up good numbers.

As much as you want to diss his work ethic during the off-seasons (which was terrible but started turning around once Petrino came) or how he handled himself in the media or something, go ahead.. but don't act like he never got the job done when it came to him on the field. He put butts in the seats and besides 1998, gave the Falcons their most successful years, taking them to an NFC Championship game and being the first QB to win in Lambeau Field in the playoffs.

Vick was far from being accurate, but Michael Jenkins, and Roddy White never helped him. Brian Finneran could make a catch for the highlights, but would drop the easy ones, and Vick had to constantly rely on Alge Crumpler.

The best game to watch to feel Vicks frustrations is when he faced New Orleans and flicked off the New Orleans fan (not a Falcons fan) at the Georgia Dome. It was one of the many games I attended and the receivers dropped so many easy catches throughout the game.

Roddy White and Michael Jenkins have learned to run to the ball instead of waiting for the ball to come to them.

GenshiYagyu, Vick was a game changer considering the lack of talent he had around him, and he had so much weight on his shoulders. He won plenty of games by himself with a poor offensive line, poor receivers, and a defense that rarely let the offense rest.

Yeah, I'll admit I downplayed his ability on the field. I think he was good, but not necessarily in relation to the hype he received. As good as he was, he was more exciting than good. People not really interested in football would've paid to see him play. Now? He'll still draw a lot of attention, but more so in derogatory signs and groups assembling outside of stadiums. So his money-drawing capacity is diminished, and his skills are almost certainly diminished. We really don't know what to expect from him. Will he be a shell of his former self after the ordeal, or will he just have some rust to shake off? Either way, with the bad publicity and the questions about how he'll respond to being in the NFL again, to teammates wary of the media circus he'll bring, I think a team has to be in dire straits at QB to consider him an option.

I think the Giants bring him in after Eli shows how much of a bum he is and why extensions shouldn't be handed out based on one lucky play. With the garbage they have at receiver, Vick will actually be a good addition. He's probably a better runner than Jacobs too.

I don't know why or how, but Stephon Marbury said Vick is going to Dallas.

Looks Mike Vick will be in his own country in Dallas. I said years ago and I'm saying it again. Jerry Jones is a GENUIS as the world turns

And it's a well known fact that Stephon Marbury is well grounded in reality and not likely to say or do things just to get attention

The question is, did you stop watching the games after Cheddar Burress shot himself?
