BREAKING: Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman arrested on suspicion of choking and restraining reality show star Tila Tequila

POWAY, Calif. (KABC) -- San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman was arrested early Sunday on suspicion of assault.

A spokeswoman for the for the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said Merriman is accused of choking and restraining television reality show hostess and model Tila Nguyen. Nguyen also known as Tila Tequila and previously hosted a reality show on MTV.

Merriman is entering a contract year and coming off an injury, and not only does he have to prove he isn't injury prone, he now has this lingering over him?

Just sad. -- Some people don't really think about what they have to lose in the long run.

It's not verified weather Merriman really choked her or not. It's just a report. She's known to do this kinda crap where she calls the cops with fake ****.

I was actually sitting here thinking about football season starting next week. I thought about last year on how our defense sucked when Shawn went down. Then, I was like, well he is back and under Ron Rivera for a full summer the Chargers are going to be in a great position this season.

.....then not 1 minute later, I turn on my laptop and see Shawns Mug on Yahoo.... :nonono:

When I read the headline I thought, damn, that's pretty bad. But then I read who the girl was, and I wouldn't be shocked if this was all made up.

He is literally three times a big as she is. He's over 270 lbs and she can't be much over 90 lbs, even considering her assets. If he lost his temper with her, I can't see how there'd be any doubt. Either there will be giant bruises, broken bones, etc., or she's full of crap.

As much as I dislike Shawn Merriman and the Chargers he is innocent until proven guilty. Too many people assume when a big name star gets accused of something that he is automatically guilty. Let's wait for some more facts before we chastise him.
