Who saw San Francisco coming? I saw them improving, but not beating the Seahawks in Seattle. Unfortunately, I can't see the Seahawks winning with Seneca Wallace under center.

The Niners beat Seattle in San Fran...and the Cards in Arizona.

I think Ryan is going to have some very good short-term success (probably better), and Jets fans would be wise to savor every last drop while it lasts. When it starts to go, it’s going to be ugly and sudden.

The only problem is that the Jets are going to get better defensively especially when their best pass rusher comes back week 5.

I was going more macro-level there, like in years. I think the Jets are really onto something this year, but by about 2012 Jets fans will want to kill Ryan.

Washington (22) at Detroit (30): My fellow Lions fans, this is the week! Seriously. As long as the turnover margin isn’t worse than -1, Detroit will break the streak at home against a Redskins team that appears thisclose to mutinying their coach. Dan Snyder might make Jim Zorn walk the plank, or at least walk back to Ashburn VA, after Detroit pulls the 20-17 stunner.

Not happening

What's that's based on though? Is it just a hitch?

I think the Jets have something really nice in place. Young Coach, young GM, new stadium and an owner willing to do anything to win. Jets have a nice core of players, especially on defense and outside of one or two picks within the last 4 years of the draft since the GM has been here, it's been pretty damn good.

you dont view ryan as a coach who just grinds on his players and stops getting through to them after a few years?

Ed Reed will be DPOW.

I see Quinn throwing multiple balls his way.

Exactly. Swagger and braggadocio works when you're winning, but it gets real ugly when you're not. See Mike Ditka in New Orleans or Jon Gruden in Tampa, who lasted about 3 seasons too long. Even Parcells has been like that since he left the Giants. I think Ryan is like those guys. It can work real well for 2-3 years though and these Jets have some nice talent.
