The injury list grows

Chad Pennington out for season with shoulder, although that's just per Mort at this point and he's usually unreliable.

Leodis McKelvin out for 8-12 weeks with broken leg

Donte Whitner out 4-8 weeks with a broken thumb, maybe longer

Marc Bulger needs rotator cuff surgery but the Rams are waffling on it

Laurent Robinson, the Rams #1 WR, out for season with broken ankle that tore the ligament from the bone. Could be a career-ender.

The Colts are being real coy on Dwight Freeney. I've heard 2-4 weeks, I've heard out just this week, I've heard season-ending. Too many voices to sort out but suffice to say he's hurt.

Frank Gore out 2 weeks, which takes SF to the bye week. My Niners guy tells me Gore probably could play in two weeks if absolutely necessary but they want to let him get to full strength.

On the bright sides...
Albert Haynesworth has a pain in his ass, nothing serious
Kevin Smith is 50/50 to play this week
Vince Wilfork is okay, just rolled his ankle, nothing bad.

Looks like a lot of Miami fans got their wish. Not sure if they're really excited about Henne or they're just really sick of Pennington.

And that sucks about Laurent Robinson. I liked him when he actually played for the Falcons, but I guess it was a good call getting rid of him.

Sucks for Pennington. Great person and good player.

Ugh, I have Gore on my fantasy team.

:(

Are you sure the entire Texans defense isn't injured? I figured that would be the reason they play like the worst defense in history.

high 5, i don't think many miami fans were hoping for pennington to get hurt, just for henne to have his shot at running this team. the coaching staff has anointed him as the starter for the future, so many of us want to see what this hype is all about.

pennington is going to make one hell of a qb coach in years to come. he's way too smart.

Man I just lost my sleeper in Robinson, he was doing wonders as my 4th starting receiver.

You know it's going to be a bad season when you have to prepositionally identify a team's #1 WR.

8-)
Seriously though the guy was having a very nice season and making very good progress. This won't help his "soft as tissue paper" rep.

Freeney out 2-4 weeks
Frank Gore confirmed out until the bye. My Niners guy told me that Sunday at halftime of that game. Take that Mort!

Or 2-4 days. Not only did he play, he had a sack and was very effective. They werent kidding when they called him a "fast healer."

This headline gave me chills.

Report: Stafford Has Dislocated Kneecap

Not a good way for me to start my morning. I have dislocated my left knee six times and my right knee once. My right knee was dislocated so bad that the hospital gave me some stuff that makes you not know what is going on at the time. I wish I knew the name of it because the effects give me flashbacks. At the time I had no clue what was going on, was laughing at the doctor, but years later I can just be minding my own business, and the vision will appear of him putting my kneecap back into place.

It popped out when he was sacked, they popped it back in on the sidelines. Stafford said there's very little pain but the team wants him to have a series of tests to make sure it's not more severe than it appears. He *might* miss a game, but it doesn't appear to be a long-term injury.

If he had fully dislocated his knee he would be out, no question, but it appears he is day to day. This is an injury that needs to be watched closely because the chances are high that it happens again.

Jeff,

What do you think will be the story with Westbrook all season? Is it going to be a wait-and-see every week with inconsistent playing time?

Isn't that basically his entire career? If you're asking for fantasy purposes, I'd dump him for whatever anyone would give you. If you asking for Eagles purposes, pray that McCoy keeps improving and Westbrook only needs 12-15 touches a game without the offense suffering. He's just a frail dude.

Antwan Odom tore his Achilles, out for the season. Real bad break for a guy having a MVP-type season. The series before he tore it he blocked a FG.
