Chris Henry dead at age 26

Post#1 » by SportsWorld » Thu Dec 17, 2009 12:18 am

http://news.cincinnati.com/article/2009 ... s+accident
Bengals WR Chris Henry was involved in a serious accident and suffered serious head injuries on Wednesday in Charlotte after what police are describing as a “domestic situation” between the fifth-year player and his fiancé, Loleini Tonga.

According to detectives with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, the Homicide Unit and H.I.T.S. unit are conducting an investigation.

Officers responded to a call in reference to a person down a half mile from the house where Henry and his fiancé were staying. When officers arrived, they found Henry in the road with life-threatening injuries.

Henry was then taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where he is being treated.

Police say Henry was involved in a “domestic situation.” His fiancé got into a pickup truck and drove away. According to police, as she was driving, Henry jumped into the bed of the truck. A domestic dispute continued between the two and at some point Henry came out of the back of the truck.

Well, this is unfortunate. I wish they'd describe the injuries that he sustained, but until then it sounds like he'll need a long recovery time.

On the field, this really doesn't hurt the Bengals that much. Henry has been slipping on the depth chart, and he hasn't really produced up to expected levels this season.

Hopefully he recovers fully, nothing is as important as that right now. But, how do people like him continue to find themselves in troublesome situations as he has found himself to be in time and time and time again?

Some people just never learn, I guess and that's sad.

It's mind-boggling how some guys just never learn and never truly appreciate what they have. But I wish him the best.

Prayers for him and his. The fact that the homicide unit's investigating this (in addition to the life support bit, obviously) makes the prognosis really not look good.

wth does that even mean???

wtf is wrong with you people. From that early article it clearly said he was hanging onto his life by a thread and it was a dire situation. And you guys are talking about how it wont effect the team and he never learns. You don't even know what exactly happened in the situation, how do you know what he needs to learn from it?

No one has even mentioned that three kids may of lost their dad.

But, i'm glad you managed to wish him the best.

What more can I do than wish him the best? I truly hope he lives a long and happy life with his family.

There's nothing wrong with acknowledging that (by all reports) this is another bad decision on his part. It's incredibly sad that it has come to this. He has a family and the means to provide for them, but for whatever reason he can't avoid these situations.

People are just calling it like they see it and to be honest I see nothing wrong with that at all. Lets all be honest its not like Henry has made the best decisions in his life. And falling out of the back of a pickup truck during a domestic dispute sure sounds like another one to me.

I feel deeply sorry for any kids or family members that have to be involved. But my sympathy for Henry is rather limited when someone continues to do immature things.

You guys are assuming alot. All you guys know is that he was standing up in the bed of a truck while it was moving. I've done that. ALot of people have done that. How does that equal having less sympathy for the man?

Past incidents shouldnt matter right now.

^ I think it has to do with the fact that he was involved in a "domestic dispute" in which his girlfriend tried to walk away from, and he jumped into the back of her truck, simply to continue the dispute, with no regard for his own safety. Now, I hope he's okay and pulls through, and I'm sorry for his family who's trying to deal with all of this. But let's not act like this couldn't have been avoided by Chris Henry himself.

It's everything that was reportedly involved in jumping in the back of a pick up truck, which is probably not the smartest thing by any means.

I just read that he is on life support and someone close to him said it does not look good. In situations like this football or bad decisions should not even be talked about. It's not like he has killed anyone, just made immature decisions but that is besides the point. A young man might lose his life and now is not the time to talk whether he'll still have an impact on the field but rather the discussion should be whether he'll be able to even live. My prayers are with him.
