Re: 2010 Potential Free Agents
I'd love for the Texans to make a run at Jahri Evans. Having to re-sign Owen Daniels, Chester Pitts and DeMeco Ryans probably makes that impossible though.
Kevin Walter should be a FA though.

I want the Browns to throw a blank check at Brandon Marshall.

I'd like the Bears to do the same thing.

The Lions could almost everyone but can probably afford none of them. Until Martin Mayhew has another good draft or two and starts winning more games, no ones coming to Detroit.

Holmgren threw a couple around in Seattle.

Re: 2010 Potential Free Agents
Two guys I think the Lions should go after (most likely won't) are Miles Austin and Pierre Thomas. Both are RFA, both are good young players, both weren't full-time starters for their teams last season. If the Lions opened their checkbook and gauranteed them starting spots.... I'd like to see them in Honolulu blue. Kevin Smith is possibly out for all of next season and Calvin Johnson has no legit second option next to him to take some pressure off. Don't want to draft a RB or WR, but if we could pick a couple up in FA, it sure would be nice.
It would also allow the Lions to draft all defense which is a pressing need.
Pipedream and most likely won't happen, but I'm allowed to dream about the offseason. I'm a Lions fan.

Re: 2010 Potential Free Agents
The way Miles Austin is producing big plays in Dallas the cowboys have noticed that they wont get rid of this guy...no way in hell would he go to the Lions. Cowboys wont get rid of him he will get the money he deserves

Re: 2010 Potential Free Agents
Here's the problem with targeting RFA's: you lose draft picks in compensation. This draft is incredibly deep in rounds 2-4, and those are the compensatory picks that you lose for an RFA. Very few teams are going to want to sign an RFA to a big contract AND sacrifice the cheap labor of the draft picks. 2nd and 3rd round picks are absolute gold to teams because they know they get a quality player for cheap for at least 3-4 years. Some teams don't care, but even then I think it's going to be a case of, if the player is truly valuable enough to draw that kind of foreign interest then the current team will pony up and sign him before he hits the market.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game
