Depending on his combine, he could be a late 1st or early 2nd. It's a good move for him.

Good move. Hes a steal if he falls to the 2nd. Cleveland would be smart to draft him.

I would have told him to stay. Even though this RB class is real weak, there are so many young backs with similar skills that can be had for much less investment than a 2nd round pick (which is where he's going). Look at all the low-rounders or UDFAs that are making big impacts and all the recent RBs to hit the league that are sitting 3rd on a depth chart just because there's no room for them to move up anywhere. There's a changing of the guard at RB that goes on about every 5 years and right now we're closer to the beginning of that than the end.

That's one thing I was gonna make a thread on. 2 years in a row now we've been told that teams are shying away from the young speedy small receivers in college like Percy Harvin, and Desean Jackson, and they fell a bit, while guys who have the true WR look, like Darius Heyward Bey, were drafted. But their NFL production is off the charts. Talk about experts such as kiper, being as wrong as you can be. If I were to re-do the drafts, Percy and Jackson would be in the top 5 overall both times.

Not trying to make a real point here other than saying, good for them. Way to prove the experts wrong these last couple of years.

Harvin fell for non-football reasons--he's a fragile, unlikable jackass. Very few people questioned his on-field ability. Even so, the team I worked with last draft didn't even have him on the draft board because of his health and personal issues, and I know they weren't alone.

As one who did kinda doubt Jackson, my concern was more with his ability to handle the physicality with his cocksure mentality. Plus he dropped a lot of balls at Cal. To his credit he was right when he said that big hitters don't scare him because they can't catch him, and he has worked hard at watching the ball all the way in.

Remember this little exchange when you start hearing Marty Gilyard, Jacoby Ford, and Jordan Shipley all getting dissed by the McShays and Mayocks of the world. I'll try to too...

Are any of those guys as fast as Jackson and/or Harvin?

Speaking of "changing of the guard" at RB, I think we're seeing that too with the WRs, not necessarily the players like in RBs, but the type of players. Obviously, if you can get a big WR that is also fast and explosive, you grab that guy. But I think now more than ever, are the short, quick, speedy guys who can catch finding more success at WR. With the rules being geared towards the passing game and in protecting QBs as well as defenseless WRs, I think these shifty speedy WRs that can dink and dunk you to death or burn you deep are going to be all the rage in the NFL.
