Alex Brown hasn’t been traded or released by the Bears, but he clearly expects to be. He’s already saying goodbye.

“I am extremely grateful for my time as a Chicago Bear and I wish the Bears the best,” the defensive end posted on his Twitter page Wednesday. “I am glad that they gave me an opportunity to realize a dream I had as a child. I appreciate the fans but as we all know this is the nature of the business. Bear down!”

Brown, 30, has spent all eight of his NFL seasons with the Bears and is scheduled to make $5 million next season, making a trade difficult. The Chicago Tribune had reported that the Bears are trying to deal Brown, but he’ll likely be released if they can’t find a trade partner.

Brown has been a bit of disappointment in the NFL. Thought he would be a dominant type DE with double digit sack numbers every year. He is still a decent DE just not the player most expected him to be coming out of Florida.
