I don't really have any glaring problems with his game thus far. Runs the floor very well, has really good hops, challenges his man, and has a nice shot.
He does a little bit of everything on the floor, and has physical abilities no one else in the team has.
I've been saying for a while now that I would not be shocked if we resigned him and at a higher price than what a lot of people were throwing out there. He'll benefit from a full training camp with the team and hopefully a bit more of an up-tempo offense next season.
I would like to see him hit the boards a little harder, but overall I'm pleased with the production he's giving us.
This is what I find odd about Piston fans.
"You have to overpay to land stars"
"Don't spend any money this year"
"He is not worth a contract that big"
Why is it always about money? Its not as if any of the contracts done thus far are immovable. Grant could have easily been traded, Lyles and Jackson were moved easily.
If Weaver pays Bagley a 3/36, 3/45, or a 4/60 deal, is it really goin to be that hard to move him later on, knowing salary cap futures? Certain salaries make future trades easier to do.
We have no idea what will happen with Bagley at the end of the year. I am open. I want to see just how much of an effect being a part of
the worst run NBA team, had on Bagley. So far, after a few games, I want him to start over Stewart. Reactionary sure, but he brings a completely different angle to the floor, for the teams best player, Cade. That's where my interests lie, not with Stewart or Bagley.
Even in limited minutes together, you can see what Bagley does to Cades game. The lob threat is real, and every inch it gives Cade when he gets into the lane, is a huge benefit to the entire team.
There is no harm in playing Cade and Bagley together for long stretches to see if Bagley is worth a new contract, and more importantly, how having a player like Bagley, affects Cades game as a whole when your coming into a draft that features 3 top bigmen. It will have a big impact on the draft.
So far, Bagley has been very impressive, bringing things no on else on the team can do at his position.
