We'll be much better than this Knicks team in 24 months, they're a just above average treadmill team.
That is a bold statement after watching the product out on the floor.

This is the worst era of Pistons basketball ever, by a sizable margin.

It is going to be a long road to even being a bad team at this rate. Nothing tells me its going to get any better, anytime soon. Nothing.

You're just being willingly ignorant if you can't see the flashes of what we can be when Ivey, Duren and co. are out and running and the energy that comes from that. And I'm not denying there are a lot of ugly moments.

Dunno what people expect from one of the youngest teams in the league that hasn't played much bball together.
The same problems are still plaguing the team. I don't think Casey can be fired, so the system will remain the same, and the starting lineup, which is horrific, will remain the same.

This year is going to be yet another lost year. If things change next year, something could happen.

I reiterate, Casey is now the second longest tenured Pistons coach, and his record is 107-208.

I mean, unless the direction of the team changes, i expect more of the same.

Do not upset yourselves with the results. This is a tank job by the pistons thru and thru. No way in the world they can win starting a 6ft 8 inch center, B.B and Bey.

glad livers was rewarded for his good play by closing the game over bey.

i'm really looking forward to seeing a cade/burks/bey/bojan/bagley lineup, i think that's probably the best offensive lineup we have. defensively it'd probably be bad but we don't have a single 5-man lineup that would be good defensively so screw it.

i know this is frustrating basketball to watch, but it's what a lot of posters wanted. not getting quality players in free agency, trades, etc. and just sticking with the young core is what leads to what we see. most players don't start "figuring it out" until ~year 5 and our most veteran prospects are just starting their third seasons and not exactly stud talents to begin with. look at the thunder, they have a player playing at an all-nba level and they're still well below .500 because they only have two players that are 25 or over.

just as an example: a lot of fans were excited we turned jerami grant into jalen duren. but THIS SEASON, jerami is an efficient 19 PPG scorer and a good, versatile defender. duren is essentially a bench "garbage man" big who is a below average efficiency scorer despite shooting all his shots within 8 feet of the basket. there is a literal chasm in the quality of player at this point, and that affects the team's play and subsequently their record.

Just give the talent time to mature and find familiarity with eachother and then you can truly assess Casey. You still gotta be a halfway decent coach to take Toronto on those runs he did.

Why on earth did Casey not have Ivey come in for Killan or Burcs at the end of the game?

They took him out with like 5mins left and didnt put him back. I'm guessing because Ivey was playing terrible tonight.

When Bagley comes back, I would love to see more of the Stewart/Duren combo. I know he’s not flashy but Beef Stew has Draymond potential defensively with less vision but a better jump shot.

We had it down to 4 at one point very late in the fourth (which should've been 2 since they never took back the points the Knicks got on their shot clock violation at the start of the game). That's without our best player and shooting terribly from 3. Suffice to say we were competitive, which is all we should really ask at this point.

Seems like Burkes "arbitrarily recovers" from being "injured".
Why hasnt he been available and helping the team sooner?

Just finished the 2nd half... Last night, I heard the most awkward ****.. Johnny Kane calls Greg, "Kelser".. Blaha seems to take offense to it. "Kelser? What's this last name business?", short pause, and George tells Greg, "I'm sure Johnny meant no offense", and Greg laughed it off, "I know he's joshin'"... There's been so many times Johnny says something cringe-worthy.. Maybe it's because I talk to my elders much differently than those my age.

Stew is what this team is all about. Maybe he'll come off the bench for us forever, but that's fine, too.. Hami, too.... Without Cade, we still managed to be in it... I can't believe Bojan had 25. But he's so efficient, probably had 4 dribbles, held the ball no more than 90 seconds all game long.

I hope we get Boston tonight. Nice to see Burks play pretty well for his first game in 6 months?

Hope all of Joseph's minutes go to Burks moving forward. It was nice to see a proper veteran guard off the bench last night.

i didn't hear it because i had the knicks broadcast but yeah calling someone by their last name is pretty informal and i could see a "superior" (boss/elder, etc.) taking it as a lack of respect.

pretty risky move in a professional environment, especially since it's on live tv.

Pistonspowered just ran an article with how historically bad the Pistons are. I totally get that this roster isn't made to win games. You see the problem with the Warriors. The truth is that most young players need time and experience before they can affect winning. But I don't know anyone can say Casey should get more time or doing even an adequate level. How can you continue to run that starting frontcourt out there? Obviously Pistons can't play defense, so why would you play your worse defensive player with limited rebounding as the starting four, play your solid four as the starting five, play your middle of the road four as your starting three, and then have no a rookie two guard and a starting one trying orchestrate an offense where only one person shoots consistently from the outside?

Many fans on here have posted far more reasonable rotations. They wouldn't solve the problems, but right now the Pistons' ineptitude is nearing Process level. Most fans didn't expect a playoff team, but also didn't think we'd get this pathetic.

I've seen many people in my profession retire on the job. Casey has a cozy gig where he's getting paid millions to be bad. To me it looks like he's lost his edge with players. He's not a bad coach, but he should the word assistant at the beginning of his title.

Johnny has a stronger relationship with Kelser because when George is out, he fills in. Doubt it’s anything

Sekou decided to complain about the coaching staff instead of learn how to play and that's why he is not in the league anymore.

Killian been having a ton of opportunity, way more than he deserves, it's his own fault that he is not succeeding. We're being absurdly patient developing him, no other team in the league would've done that for him. He is just not NBA talent.

VW would be welcome, and he would thrive with us.

With Cade out, letting Ivey finish the game is a must IMO. He is your future with Cade and Durren.

Killian is Killian and Burcs first game off injury. Let Ivey play over one IMO to get game closing experience and allowing him to keep his covidence.

Return to Detroit Pistons
