Good tank loss, young guys played reasonably well and they kept it competitive until the end despite Durant and Irving going supernova. Still though, I wanted them to win this one.

I can rewind it later and watch but I thought it was a fresh clock and by fouling it reset the clock out of bounds at 14 seconds.
I didn't realize that was a thing and was just thinking what good strategy that is. Am I wrong here?
Ok, I just watched the replay and while I have no idea why the intentional foul was called, it worked. Killian stole the inbounds pass and it lead to a score.
And Kelser even said "And the strategy worked"

We were down by 4 with 2 minutes to go, but they kept forcing 3's and bad shots... These are the games that hurt.

Thats why I think everyone seem to gloss over it. It was a brutal gametime decision.Manocad wrote:zeebneeb wrote:Nope, I just checked it. 52.5 second to go, 9 seconds on the shot clock, and Hayes immediately fouls Irving. Its blowing my mind right now.Invictus88 wrote:

In any event, loved how the kids played.

But it wasn't. You're calling it brutal because you don't understand it. And admittedly, I don't either. But here's the reality--the Nets have the ball with 9 seconds left. Hayes clearly intentionally fouls Irving to reset the shot clock to 14 seconds. The Nets inbound, Hayes steals the pass, and the Pistons score.
Regardless of why the intentional foul was directed, how can it be a "brutal" call when the Pistons scored as a result? The worst case scenario was that the Nets get 5 more seconds on the shot clock. And who knows--maybe Casey saw something that we don't see and yelled "FOUL!" We're not NBA coaches.

In any event, it doesn't matter, and I won't argue with anyone anymore.Manocad wrote:zeebneeb wrote:Thats why I think everyone seem to gloss over it. I'm glad it was a competitive game.

Re: Pistons-Nets (6pm)
A lot of strange stats in this one.
-Each team has a 70 point half.
Someone mentioned players not moving without the ball?
-Guards Ivey and Burkes combined, only had 2 assists, the same amount as Center Duren managed.
-SF Bojan manages twice (4) as many assists as the Guards Ivey, Burkes combined total (2).
- Boards, smh, Bey and Bojan combined can only manage 2.
The guards Killian and Burks each manage as many boards as the combined trio of Forwards Bey, Bojan and Knox.
I blame the coach, you have Forwards that cant be bothered to rebound, Guards that cant be bothered to pass or playmake and a cowering coach afraid to request his players be troubled to do more than spectate when they dont have the rock.
A good college team could have gave either of these hero ball chuckers a close contest tonight.

The best college team ever would get smoked by a bad NBA team. Come on, dude. Seriously.
