What value do you think Christian Wood has? He had two career seasons in Houston and they gave him to the Mavericks for a locker room guy, 3 guys to cut, and a low first. And it honestly doesn’t seem like they’re overly concerned with keeping him.

Apparently, he’s worth multiple guys and a 1st.

Better than nothing.

And I agree with your points about the constant flipping of bench players just to waive and/or stretch release guys and create dead cap holds.

There was no first involved in the trade to Dallas. No pick at all. Just some neutral value contracts. That’s it.

Yes there was, #26 went to Houston in the Wood trade.

Wendell Moore was drafted #26 and flipped to Minnesota

I clearly liked the Duren deal as I have it listed as one of the good deals he’s made.

But taking on Noel/Burks without getting a 1st attached to them is dumb.

Extending Bagley - dumb

Throwing in Wood to Houston basically for free, dumb. Still giving them a 1st rounder to boot, REALLY dumb!

Drafting Killian Hayes over better options - dumb

Trading for multiple guys just to stretch waive, dumb

Not flipping Bogey and Burks for draft capital, dumb

Trading Bey for Wiseman when we already have Duren - probably dumb. If we can build up Wiseman’s value and flip him, or if he becomes an elite backup C, then this deal could prove to be ok…we’ll see…

I’m probably leaving out a couple, but you get the point.

It kind of was nothing. Bojan marjonavic, Trey Burke, Marquese Chriss and Sterling Brown. Plus the first.

Not to mention I don’t think Wood wanted to be here anymore

As an outsider, I really like how Weaver takes swings. His strategy seems built around resuscitating high-potential talent. It won't always work out, but it's a smart play.

Curious to see how Wiseman pans out. Do you all anticipate him being thrown to the wolves as a starter or brought along slowly?

Rumor is the plan is to start him.

Personally, I think that’s just fanboy rumor. I expect him to backup Duren, but hopefully still get 20-ish minutes per night.
