It may be unfair to lay all the blame on Casey, but he hasn't merited any kind of success as a coach either, and I don't see any reason to believe next year would be that different with a healthy Cunningham (assumption) and a high draft pick. Weaver has been swinging for the fences and mostly coming up with imbalanced rosters. Pistons best player doesn't even play his natural position. The list of centers that have come and gone during Weaver's time is outrageous.

If Pistons don't change leadership and actually construct a real roster, we're just looking at reset of everything two off-seasons from now. That to me is the most logical outcome unfortunately.

That's the most brutal scenario for sure.... Weaver doesn't get this team to the playoffs next year or the year after and Gores brings someone else new in and they clear house.

I don't think this is even understood by the homers. What is the best case scenario for Wiseman, that he is a above average Center that can score and kinda is OK at defense?

Then what? We pay him more than Bagley and have Wiseman, Bagley, Stew and Duren? So we need to kick Stew out (3 for 3 busts on our 1st rounders) or also overpay him to our backup 4? Pay out 40-50 million a year for our C/PF lineup and none of them are move the needle players. That's the upside of this situation.

We are legitimately buying lottery tickets hoping for anything. Its that bad. Thats what happens when you swing on 3 1st round picks and your best player is an average backup 4. Cade might be very good, lets see him play 70+ games next year and show it. Ivey might be good, but he is a ball dominant, poor defense, short SG - that we hope to play with Cade?

Let's see what happens with the #5 pick and free agency.

That's not to say that the season hasn't been a disaster but it was entirely expected once Cade went down, at least I expected it.

It was entirely expected even before he went down. That doesn't make it more palpable.

Palpable doesn’t mean what I think you think it means. My guess is you were going for “palatable” there.

Unless you meant palpable which in that context makes no sense.

Wait a minute—bad? I thought that was a good thing? Trade all vets with value for draft picks or young players. If a highly touted rookie shows promise but struggles, trade him for draft picks. Isn’t the goal to have 15 players all 22 or younger?

You'd think with our so-called developmental coach we'd be able to turn one of our young players into something more. I imagine coaching has less to do with it though, and its more about the player. Some players get better over time, some players don't. For a guy like Wiseman, he just needs to play, then you'll find out in a year or two what kind of player he becomes.
