Assets I'd like to get from the Warriors

Post#1 » by theBigLip » Wed May 31, 2023 1:37 am

The Warriors had a great run. They have a world of problems with the new CBA. Sounds like they still want to keep the core of Steph, Klay and Draymond together. They need to keep Wiggins, Looney and Payton as well. They need to get rid of at least one big salary, and Poole looks to be the odd man out.

Kuminga($6M), the #19 pick, and (gulp) even Poole($28M) are what I'd like to get. I know a lot of hate is coming my way for mentioning Poole, but if he is considered a negative asset, then he might help us get Kuminga and #19.

As for our trade assets, Bogdanovich (20), Burks(10), Bagley(12) and Hayes(7) are the most expendable. Cade, Ivey, Duren are untouchable, and I think Stewart and Livers make good role players for our team so I'd rather keep them as well. I also don't want to move our #5. The #31 is a possibility.

So, is there a trade to be made?
Bogdanovich has to be part of this since he is our best asset. Burks would be a good fit but not sure if they want the salary.

Most plausible: Bogdanovich + #31 gets us Poole + #19
Better but less likely: Bogdanovich + Burks + #31 for Poole + Kuminga + #19
No picks salary dump: Bagley + Hayes for Poole

Maybe none of this works, but hammer away. I figure it will be a bit less brutal on our board than on the T&T board

If they took my 2nd attempt, we would look like:

Cade/Hayes
Ivey/Poole
#5/Livers
Stewart/Kuminga
Duren/Wiseman

and #19 somewhere, maybe a shot at another wing r backup PG to replace Hayes

Poole should be on the trade market big time because he got a huge extension and didn't produce well at all after that Draymond punch. Poole + #19 for BB + Burks would make a lot of sense for both teams.... that said, I still am not sure that Weaver is looking to add multiple rookies this year... It feels like he knows he needs to take a big step forward. Also, Poole would be better suited on a team with a really strong defensive wing to cover up his shortcomings. Ivey + Cade + Poole at the guard spots really makes us super weak on perimeter defense.

Not sold on Poole. The contract, the defense, the errors, the body language on the floor etc

I'd sooner let someone else take him and make it a 3 way deal

Strong no on Poole - we need to replicate the Miami model.

Find overlooked players with something to prove and are looking for an opportunity and willing to work, prove people wrong.

This is the roster building model we had back in the Pistons Going to Work days :banghead:

Giving players big contracts for potential and zero achievements ... you end up with Andre Drummond lead Pistons

That trade would be great for our youth and offense. Agree with the defense issue, although I think if we get the right coach and add a couple of free agents that are strong defenders, we would be okay. I think Ivey can be a great defender - I know that will draw some comments, but he is certainly athletic enough. This past year he was a rookie and was playing in horrendous lineups, so even Marcus Smart would look bad.

Ideally, this would be great but it only happens when you have the best scouts in the business. Miami does and we don't. Instead, we take flyers on anyone and everyone who flamed out as a high lottery pick. All we've discovered by doing this is that there was always a reason we were able to buy low.

Even if Poole benefits from a change of scenery, I doubt he's worth his contract.

Okafor,Noel,Josh Jackson,Hampton,Bagley,Wiseman,Knox

Im sure im forgetting some.

Like every single guy the theory has been “he was rated high on my draft board coming out”. Then us fans have justified everyone as “low risk not paying much or giving up much etc”. Its alot of misses and wasted coaching on turds. Our young players gain nothing practicing with these kinda busts either.

Please stop, that's not Miami's model. Miami goes big game hunting and gives out terrible contracts to players just like any other organization. They've just caught lightening in a bottle with their no name guys stepping and hitting shots.

At the time of Drummond's big contract he had accomplished just as much as Tyler Herro. So again, Miami is not immune to the same terrible decisions as any other organization.

I would probably take on Poole to get back Kuminga and 19. I just really would like to add a guy like Kuminga.

Good list. Add Dennis Smith Jr.
