What Is Overtime Elite? Competition?
I never heard of this until last night. Only 6 teams? Not great context to compare.

It's not really a "league" per se. It's closer to a prep school. They just started in 2021. It's older high school kids through 20. They have private tutors/teachers for the normal school subjects and additional classes about finance, social media and other things a young athlete might have to deal with. The kids get $100k or $100k put in a scholarship fund if they decide to go to college vs trying to make it in a pro league. It's got some fairly big NBA names behind it on their board - Pau Gasol, Carmelo, Jason Williams. They have several teams and they play against each other and other prep programs.
The thompson twins are the first big names to try that route. There are a couple high level recruits opting in for next season.
The competition obviously isn't up to top level NCAA programs, but they had 2 guys make it into nba games last year and some others go to foreign pro leagues. They do use the NBA 3 point line, so if someone is shooting 30% for them, it's better than 30% from college 3.

My biggest concern is that it seemed to be a lot more run and gun than the half court sets you see in college. A lot more ISO, a lot more face up and try to take your man, etc. Lots of the assists that do come seemingly are collapsing the defense and kicking out to a shooter.
My concern would be a lack of learning preparation for teams that you get in the college system. Lack of fundamentals from college coaches, etc. That said, like Weaver mentioned... if you're a special talent you're a special talent wherever you go not just because you're in a different setting. It's quite possible both twins are simply special talents and worthy of being top 5 picks.

Re: What Is Overtime Elite? Competition?
It is an extremely low level "league" that was started in 2021. Featuring 16-20 year olds. It's basically a glorified rec league.
They pay their players a minimum of 100,000 per year, signing bonuses, and shares in overtimes larger business.
Its basically a ponzi scheme. They gained legitimacy by having two of their players get selected in the draft, making them look like an actual organization, that developes young talent.
I have zero faith they stick around longer then the next few years, or "reorganize", and call themselves something different.
This is also the reason I am so down on both twins, as they come from that joke of a league. I am really hoping that Asser is who Weaver thinks he is.

I'm not sure the Overtime Elite is too much inferior as some of those low level Euro leagues some foreign prospects come from. At least OE has some NBA minds and guidance in place, as well as at least 1 NBA level coach.
Hell, look at Lamelo Ball's post high school - pre-draft path. Low level Lithuania team that devolved into a marketing ploy for the Big Baller Brand. Then he went to play in the Junior Basketball Association, which was created by his father just to spotlight Melo. Which predictably folded after 1 season. Then he went to play in the NBL in Australia/New Zealand.
As others have alluded to, it doesn't matter a whole lot what uniform you are wearing or where you are playing, if you can ball you can ball.

The ncaa is really a joke of a league. 1 player was drafted in the top 5 from college in, Miller (a gun he touched murdered somebody)
