Agreed.. but i also think if they want him thats what it will take. I am of the mind that the pistons will need to overpay for talent right now. Who wants to go to a under 20 win team in detroit? Its not my money and he improves the team at a position of need. Plus hes young. If they match so be it. It shows the players they are trying to improve the team and want to win.

Why in the world would we offer Herb that kind of money when we need to spend on money on a PF????

Exactly this. The only reason they declined was because they have an agreement in place to sign him for more years/money as a RFA. Folks spend so much time talking basketball and don't even know how the game is played.

Then thats what I do. Herb is 6'8, and Asser is 6'7. That would be a killer defensive wing combo.

I know I shouldn't get excited, but damn it now I am.

He fits the timeline perfectly as well.

Cade, Ivey, Thompson, Jones. That's a crapload of questionable shooting in a league that thrives on long range shooting.
I do think that Cade has the form to become a plus shooter eventually but the other three haven't been good shooters historically.

I do love Herb Jones though but not sure of the fit with Ausar here now and I don't think he'll ever have the offense to justify getting the big money contract.

Can't argue with that, but what I can say is that the defense that would be on display, would greatly reduce the amount of points the Pistons would need to score.

I'm reminded of the 00-01 Pistons team that won 50 games, and had unreal problems scoring. They won a bunch of games, just by greatly limiting what the other team could do.

I'm okay with that. Its easier to fix a great defensive teams scoring, then a scoring teams defense.

I would just love to see some kickass defense out of this franchise again.

Both Asser, and Herb are 6'8/6'7 more then big enough to play power these days, and if size is needed, the Pistons are not short on bigmen.

Well now I think we can swoop in and take Herb for 6 millions annually. No way Pelicans match that.

I mean, yeah they could. But would that be the best fit? Thompson or Herb at the 4??

Essentially MLE money so a bargain for the Pelicans.

Herb is a quality rotation piece any could use at that price

Yup its the full MLE for 4 years. By the end of that deal he could be a real bargain for sure.
