No. Thats just the first wave.

Besides there is a difference between feeling out agents, and seeing what actually gets done. Plenty if teams have to move on to plan B, C, D after it starts. And many of these secondary options involve trades.

I was moreso talking about the trade market anyways. And since the Harden trade hasn't happened yet, that shows that the market has not developed yet. Let alone seeing what shakes out months from now after the season starts .

Thought i heard we're going to be looking at $50 mil in cap space next year now. So basically we punted FA and just took a 44% 3pt shooter for free to wait until then.

Take a year to see what the young guys do before committing big money.

Similar things were said this time last year when Weaver absorbed Burks and Noel

We have collected some 3pt shooting now thats certain, with Harris, Morris, Burkes, Bojan and Sasser all well above average beyond the arc.
I still hope we can improve our D somehow, none of the above will be any help with that.

Yeah, and I'm sure going into last season they were hoping our young guys would show more progress. They certainly weren't counting on Cade missing the season.

We'll be in a position to add pieces when our kids start showing some progress. Just gotta pray it's this year. If it isn't...well, I just don't know what.

Yup, this time next year we will be staring down the barrel of needing to give Cade a $40+ mil/season extension and it kicking in 2025. So the eventuality of the practice of annually punting cap space in previous years, won't amount to much if anything.

If Cade is who we think/hope he is, next summer is really the last opportunity to do anything of note with the cap space. And if Cade isn't that guy, well then we're royally screwed.

Unless and until the Pistons' line up includes a shot blocker at either the 4 or 5, their defense will always be subpar. I haven't a clue why Weaver has 4 centers and none are even average shot blockers.

He won't get an extension if he doesn't play most of the season and doesn't show major progress. He'll hit RFA and a decision will be made based on the following season. Plenty of young players end up taking that path.

Sure, which if that happens is where the last sentence of my post would come into play.

If we're 14-26 at the halfway mark it'll certainly be interesting to see what direction we go the second half of the season. Win now moves to try to push closer to .500 or trade away vets for picks and run yet another 2nd half tank job.

I get tanking in a situation like that when your franchise player is out injured and a prospect like Wemby is on the line. But we should be trying to win in your hypothetical scenario next season. Tanking time should be over now, IMO.

We are predicted to have the worse record in the league.

The Wizards should be worse than us at the very least.

I haven't seen win totals over/under bets yet but they'll likely be out soon.

I do see that Detroit, Washington, and Charlotte have the worst odds to win the NBA title at 500 to 1.

Spurs, Rockets, Jazz, Magic and Pacers are at 250 to 1.

If that happens, Weaver has to be fired.

It means he failed, all over the place.
