2024 Draft Prospects

Post#1 » by Piston Pete » Sun Jul 2, 2023 7:14 pm

As is, we seem to be a lock to be picking top-5 again in 2024.

We have a core 4 of Ivey, Cade, Ausar, and Duren.

This season seems to be Stewart’s year to prove he can start at PF. Will he prove he’s worthy of that spot long-term, or will he prove his role moving forward might be better as our long-term backup PF/C?

Regardless, here’s a look at the top guys in the 2024 draft we might be interested in (in no particular order):

PF Ron Holland
PF Matas Buzelis
SF Justin Edwards
PF/C Aaron Bradshaw
SF Cody Williams
PF Omaha Biliew
SF Zaccharie Risacher

I honestly don't see us being that bad next season I see us fighting for the play in

Atlanta so far hasn't improved
Chicago hasn't got better
Toronto hasn't got better
Brooklyn hasn't got better
Philly might get worse
Washington got worse

I think only Indiana got better
Pistons got a better coach a healthy Cade back better shooters 2nd year of Ivey and Duren

I think we'll be drafting anywhere from 7-10 and maybe get lucky in the lottery

The answer to your questions is this.

The league FORCES you to be in the range of 7-12. Why? Because ranges 12+ is Play In and range 6 and under is tanking. We are not tanking, we’re going for Play In.

Something I’ve learned the past 20 years is it’s just as hard winning a championship as it is winning the lottery specially with today’s lottery odds. We have no choice but to improve. I believe teams will realize they’ll need to tank once injuries start to pile up. How come fans only imagine Detroit as getting injured? Literally giannis, embiid, butler, Lavine, any one of those guys are out for the season and it’s completely over for that team. That’s what happened to the Pistons. I’m not hoping for injuries, I’m giving you a reality and the reality is injuries pile up and when reality sets in on a team, they’ll tank on purpose.

Oh C'mon with this thread. I don't want to be reminded of it this early...

Next year's draft is going to be spectacularly bad, and the fact that it looks like the Pistons are going to need to win damn near 41 games to compete for the play-in (a 24 game improvement LMAO), so hopefully the pick is high enough to trade for another aging, oft-injured sharpshooter.

*sigh*

I'm beat down too buddy. But somehow my totally irrational optimistic side has me thinking that maybe this soon to be 10deep squad with 4 and soon to be 5 vet sharpshooters might actually make some noise this year

lol, or y'all could just chill a bit and let the rest of the offseason and next season unfold and enjoy the ups and downs as they come rather than being fatalist. :-P

Fine! My bad!

But If this time next year we are having this same conversation I won't be so easily swayed by you!

Sad times. The best part of our season is the draft after that it's just a long grind lol

Take next year off? I did it last season for the first time in 15-20 years and it was helpful. I seriously might of watched 5 games cause it knew it would be pretty ugly.

Probably why I'm also not as fatigued out as some others

That, by definition, is cheating.

i think it's pretty safe to speculate about prospects, our pick is top 18 protected so even if you think we improve/are in the play-in discussion, we'd have to be a top 6 seed to lose our pick.

also pretty cool, if i'm not mistaken we don't have our own second rounder but we will get the more favourable one between MEM and WAS. the wizards are rebuilding so that has the potential to be a top 5 second rounder.

We should follow closely Buzelis. Long and skilled F who can defend. Need to improve his 3pts shot and add some weight thought.

If we are bottom 3, monte is a failure of a coach and 100 million.

I prefer to see the glass half full and expect us to fight for the play in but fail and move up from like 7 to top 4. Finally a move up please...
