Overtime Elite Vs. G-League...

Post#1 » by GreekAlex » Mon Jul 3, 2023 7:53 pm

I wasn't sure where else to post this but have the twins ever been asked why they chose OTE over the G-League?

I've done enough research to understand the difference in competition level.

It seems like a lot of the G-league ignite guys that have been in the program outside of Jalen Green & Scoot did good but not great and fell to mid, late 1st and some even second round (Jaden Hardy).

I heard Troy Weavers "Halle Berry" analogy but what made the twins look better against the OTE stiffs vs. some of the ignite guys?

Was it there high school hype that carried over?

How would you rank the following:

1a. G-League

1b. NBA Summer League

2. NCAA D1

3. OTE

The same reason wembanyama and killian hayes went to lesser leagues. To showcase themselves against lower comp.

I'm talking about him going down a level to a French league instead of playing in the euro league or whatever its called

Yes they answered it in an interview. I tried looking for it but they did answer it.

The answer is it’s NBA trainers, NBA physical therapists, NBA 3 pt line, NBA coaches. It’s a developmental league that allowed them to work on their NBA game than focus on winning basketball games.

That’s the answer for sure from Ausar.

I believe that I heard that interview as well but the context was OTE Vs. NCAA.

It’s hard to imagine that the G-League doesn’t have NBA coaches & trainers on par OTE and an NBA 3 point line to boot.

That's not what Hayes have done.
He was with his first team (Cholet in France) and move to a German team (Ulm) who played the Eurocup (the 2nd level of European competition, beside Euroleague).
Cholet was not engaged in any European competition at that time so it was not really "going down a level" like you can say for Wemby.

And to be honest, Hayes was a killer in youth competitions (one of the best European prospect at a time) but in his first pro seasons (before the NBA), the flaws were already there.

I don't know.. I'm not hyped about a guy dominating 16-yr olds. I hope he's a Top 5 player this year.

I was intrigued with Shaedon Sharpe because he didn’t really get a chance to play with competition above him and it was tough to ask him to start at Kentucky mid-season.

The twins had the option to play against better competition and avoided it. That scares me.

They weren’t elite recruits coming out. They were given the opportunity to make money and train in OTE and ended up blowing up. The road to the NBA has changed so much in the past two years.

I'll take the G-League over the NCAA, Overtime, Europe, etc.... There's a lot of NBA players, and you can see their teams "correspond" (passing up layups for bricked 3-pters)
