Did Troy Weaver cook?

Hell yeah: added shooting, defense, and playmaking!

Best he could: No great options, didn't get stuck overpaying anyone

Meh: Not exciting, but not concerning either

Nah: Helped other teams and got back nothing meaningful in return

I'm done: Over Weaver, the team won't be competitive under his lead

Maybe that moves the needle for you and maybe it doesn’t, but it does speak to the high value placed on first rounders/swaps. It wasn’t just the cap space it cost them.

Us getting a first for one year of Jerami Grant has aged well.

Getting a player on a value contract on an upswing in FA might be a better way to get firsts than simply absorbing $$$ it seems. The Thunder killed it taking on contracts for future firsts but by the time Weaver jumped in it seemed more and more teams were saving some cap space and that makes it a bit of a weaker market for those types of deals bringing in better picks.

At this point it's a D. The only reason it's not a F is nothing enourmously bad was done. Low bar, I know.

Absorbing Harris for a pittance, drafting another perimeter player who isn't a three point shooter, overpaying Stewart when we're already overloaded on bigs, getting Morris with nowhere to really play him (though I dislike this one less than the others). Also moving Bogs and/or Burks for young assets would have been sound, but nope. I'll give him the move to get Sasser being slightly positive.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Getting Morris is a positive

Stewart is the really a overpay

Ausar & Sasser look the part.

Other than absorbing Harris when we did I'm not sure why it's a D grade off-season
