Wooppie

Bruce Brown has outplayed them all and won a ring. :D

Diallo was a 2nd round pick who played well for us, especially for what we paid him.
Let's not lump him in with the Josh Jackson/Kevin Knox/Dennis Smith crowd.

He wasn't that good and a new administration that didn't have any pride invested in having picked him took over.

But yeah, just about anyone knows that when you're relatively new to most jobs and low on the food chain (which Brown certainly was), "voluntary" stuff isn't really voluntary in a lot of cases. That said, while it may have done a little to sour Weaver on him, I'm still more inclined to believe he was getting moved regardless.

I'm glad he found success alongside Jokic. But people talk about him as though he was a player with Detroit that he simply wasn't. The guy I remember seeing wasn't a player I was particularly sad to see go.

Neither were Middleton and Dinwiddie. These were all young guys in the infancy of their development so of course they weren't finished products in Detroit. Scouting young talent is sometimes like playing darts blindfolded but when you take an L, you need to own it and that's the case here with Weaver.

Also, there were quite a few around here that were upset about the trade when it happened. I, admittedly, wasn't one of them though so I'll take the L as well.

The difference there is that Brown had more than ample opportunity to show his stuff while he was here.

And he was on the upswing, you can see the improvements in his game in Year 2 especially offensively.

Honestly though, no need to dwell on it but it was a miss on Weaver's part. I think he just wanted to clean house regardless of who was here which was good for the most part but bad at not identifying that one was worth keeping.

I remember when he was traded, I was like wtf? If he develops a better threee he be a nice player, he cuts and plays d. Then when I seen he was traded was like well **** him he won’t get a shot, welp. Kinda same as guys that hate on killian if he gets a better shot he will be useful maybe more than that, but that’s part of it all. Development

Weaver seems to prefer people he knows and relationships he's built. It could very well be that he reached out to get to know Brown and got put off by the response, seeing that Brown hadn't yet told them he was leaving per his statement. That initial contact may have been the deciding factor from a culture standpoint.

I'm picturing how I'd see it as the new GM, reaching out to a young role player on a messed up roster. He's in town as far as I know but tells me he's leaving and he'll get back to me in two weeks. Couldn't make time to even have a meal with the new boss. I can see how Weaver would question his interest in being a Piston and buying in to a new culture.

He was moved cause Weaver took a broom through the whole roster. Not because of 2 weeks off.

At the time Brown wasn't what he is now - he was more like Hayes than some want to admit.

I'm sure there's stats that show what he was really like even though I recall talking about him being decent with the corner 3.

Love the fact that Bruce Brown is a topic, sane way the Christian Wood thing lingered for so long.

IF those are the biggest misses for this FO then why do some complain so much

Yes, my thoughts exactly on Killian. Don't see the point of trading him. His value is so low. They brought Monte Morris in to be Cades backup. Let him mentor Killian this year.
