How upset would you be if this was our starting lineup in 2 years?

Dude has actual ties to the city and you guys are already wanting him moved on after 1 season

Read my last line again. Not hoping for it to happen. Don't know how I could have made that any clearer.
Not really directed at you in particular just that the Ivey trade idea has got a lot of play since SL ended

I think probably some misguided recency bias with Ivey's poor showing in the first game of summer league (even though that should have no bearing on his future with the team compared to the actual NBA games he's played), as well as a thought process that his game might not complement Cade (even though they have barely spent any time on the court together).

Mostly it's just the dog days of the NBA off-season and people are trying to generate some discussion.

I get that it's the off-season but in that case you'd think we'd be looking at trades involving Wiseman, Hayes, Harris & Burks that turn their expirings into better players that have 2 year deals.

Assuming those upgrades also play on a team that projects to have 1st of 2nd apron issues moving forward.

Minnesota being 1 team with KAT, Gobert and soon to pay Ant. Can they afford McDaniels? After paying Reid?

Idk I just think moving a dude who has 3 years left on a rookie deal isn't a thing unless we're packaging him with Bojan for a legit 4 man.

Another team with 1st or 2nd apron issues might still be Atlanta despite the Collins trade.

Obviously Boston.

Chicago could be looking to move dudes although if memory serves DeRozan and Vucevic are expiring.

Cleveland will have issues with Allen, Mobley, Mitchell and Garland

That's just off the top of my head

If that is our starting 5, weaver messed up our cap space horribly. Even if they all turned into great players, we would have missed a chance to add a top end piece while they were all on rookie deals.

I don't know, get back to me at the end of the year after having seen them play together.

I do think there's a good chance that 4 of those guys sans Stewart will be Piston starters in 2 years if they progress as expected so this isn't really far fetched. I know that they like Stewart but I'd be really surprised if he's still the starter in 2 years, I expect one player from outside to start at the 4 for the Pistons by then and perhaps at SG if Ivey doesn't mesh with Cade. I can't possibly imagine Weaver not bringing in 1 legit starter between now and then.

Regardless, something like this is impossible to predict. It's possible that only Cade is starter by then if things go sideways and Weaver is turfed. He's the only one, barring injury, that one can safely say will be starting for the Pistons in 2 years, probably Duren too.

Agree - before we pay Cade his max (hoping he is worth it) the Pistons need to add a piece that could be a true 2 in FA with a max contract.

Who that is, I dont know. I'm not getting paid $1.5 million like Weaver.

Harris, Bojan, Wiseman, Bagley, Hayes, Stewart, Burks - are we close to 2 max contracts there? Would you rather two max contracts and some G-league depth or that collection of assets? Weaver needs to get it done, maybe at the trade deadline but its a must by next summer or Weaver earns an abysmal F as a GM.
