Health being the big one, IMO.

Compared to last season, a full year of Cade would be nice.

Plus additions of Ausar and Monte will help.

Just having Cade, alone will get us to at least 20 wins (up from 17). Add in Monte playing over Hayes/CoJo and Ausar…we could see 25 wins? Maybe 30?

My opinion is Detroit will be a 25-28 win team.

Which is not nearly good enough to start to be able to pluck tier A or B free agents next summer.

Coaching is everything when it comes to win. That’s what fans forgot here in Detroit.

I am projecting 27-30 wins next season not because of the talent or coaching but because of health concerns. The roster is pissing me off always getting hurt, it’s ruining the sport for me.

If we are healthy I can see us winning 30-33 games for sure.

We will quickly learn Casey had a pretty bad roster and was not the right coach to squeeze any wins out of the roster specially with major players being out for so long.

Monty Williams will make the jump happen in the win column. We just have to stay healthy. Best I see us winning is no more than 34-37 wins and that’s really the best case scenario. I don’t see why not. These kids just need to stay healthy and grow up. One trade can change the whole outlook on the season once it happens. It hasn’t happened yet and it might not happen until the last day at the trade deadline.
I love the positivity, but man, a possible 20 win increase? That would be amazing, and this board would be over the moon for it.

Hell, I think most here(myself most definitely included) would be happy as hell to hit 30 wins. A 13 game improvement over last years debacle would be amazing. I think as Pistons fans, we need that kind of shot in the arm. Its been a minute since we've had real growth, and hope.

I don’t like Monty? Why would I not like Monty? Lol he’s a top 5 coach in the league and speaks like a father, straightforward gentleman. Of course I like him. He’s high class.

I’ve said this before. Keep in mind 3 games were last second tip ins that wiseman didn’t rebound. For the last 20-30 games we literally sat out half our roster. Last season was an anomaly, Weaver went for Wenbenyama and still got the third best player in the draft. If we were healthy why wouldn’t we not have won 25-27 games? So going up to 34-37 isn’t that out of the question specially with Killian not playing. I do believe we lost a lot because of Killian and I think it’ll show. The only problem I see is i don’t see us having an average team defense. I can see us having a league average offense but defensively I don’t think we get much better. Only way is with Cade we have a lot more to fight for considering he can finish the 4th quarter the way he does. Players will play harder to win games. We’ll be fine and if we’re not? Another Top 5 pick? I DON’T MIND!

Never haha that would be unwise. Idk if he’s an amazing coach from an X and O perspective. I’m a BIG SVG fan from that perspective. But he’s probably Top as a player’s coach. Guy like Casey or Doc Rivers. I respect those coaches because the players play hard for them. Now he’s very good offensively but defensively I’m not sure if he’ll get us to Top 10, we’ll find out, sometimes it’s up to the players not the coach to get there. I really like Monty Williams though, I never thought we’d get him the same way I never thought we’d get the caliber of SVG. I actually still think SVG was a great coach for us. I really like SVG and getting Blake wasn’t a bad move, it was just one FRP. Imagine that’s a similar FRP that got us Stewart. It was the injury that hurt us the most and then the contract. Gotta take risks to make it big sometimes and it forced us to tank so it is what it is.

  likely....was really hoping something, anything would happen this summer. Just for conversation and to add a little excitement to our lives before the season starts. I realize nothing we do now will really turn us into a contender or even a playoff team but going into this season with such a glut of average to below average players is not what I envisioned.
Bagley and/or Wiseman and Hayes and/or Harris I was expecting to be dealt. Even Burks. Possibly Bojan. Those past 2 i like as part of our team this year though.
A 2 for1 or 3 for 1 to make things make sense was expected.
Oh well, maybe we won't have to wait too much longer.

I imagine Killian is dealt at some point. I just don’t see minutes for him.

I’d guess that the best course of action is to let Money see how he can utilize the players before shuffling the deck.

To stay semi- on topic, the Joe Harris trade is still a little bit of a head scratcher. I definitely not frantic about it but I don’t imagine he’ll be thrilled with his role here. We’re a significantly worse team that Brooklyn was last year and he was getting over 20 MPG. I think it may be difficult to find that many minutes for him barring injury or trade.

I don’t expect much to happen for awhile either. And we should face it - the most likely path for us to become elite is for most of our young core to get a LOT better. This is going to be a slow path…

I’m very content with that path. To me, that is the path with the highest upside. I like the idea of making a significant trade, or a free agent signing to help supplement the core, but the real success will be seen in how the players that the Pistons drafted develop.

If we're playing Bojan at the 4 there's plenty of minutes at the 3 for Harris.

Duren - Wiseman
Bojan - Stewart - Bagley
Ausar - Harris - Livers
Ivey - Burks - Sasser
Cade - Morris - Hayes

Hmmmmmm, that's the lineup right there. I like that.
Possibly to start the year though they might bring along the rookie slowly and have Bojan start at SF with Harris backing him up. Bojan can slide over to PF to open up minutes for Ausar. Then as season progresses Ausqr hopefully elevates to start, fingers crossed

Given that his trade value is almost undoubtedly somewhere in the realm of zero, I'd imagine the Pistons will hang on to him unless there develops a trade in which it behooves them to move him.

It's an expiring contract, the trade got the Pistons to the cap floor, and the team gained some minor draft assets in the process. They didn't pay for Harris; they were paid to take him. He may or may not get minutes, and I'd say he's a candidate to ride the pine if things are going well with the youth. He very well may spend the season as a break-glass-in-case-of-emergency veteran.

It's worth noting that the Joe Harris of last season looked washed up. Two ankle surgeries made a 30-year-old who wasn't very spry to begin with quite a bit slower. His mobility on both ends was pretty poor, he had even less to offer inside the perimeter than he had before, and his defense was an issue. Barring a miraculous recovery, the Pistons won't be sitting the elite perimeter shooter he was two seasons ago. I doubt the Nets would have dumped that player, for that matter.
