Vets will start the year to see if they can be traded.
Once we lose a bunch of games and the vets get "hurt" or traded, the young guys are going to lead the stealth tank the rest of the year.

That's not happening. There'll be no tank, stealth or otherwise.

There's different ways of defining 'impact on winning'. Some do it positively. Others negatively. Both can do so at the same magnitude.
I don't know if it's really useful to say or debate whether Killian Hayes is as bad as Cade Cunningham is good. But if that's not what the OP wants then it's just a standard ranking of our players from best to worst?

I think the exercise was to rank the players by next years on court impact.
The key is to exclude any feelings based on the players contract, future potential or trade value.

Positive net impacts on both offense and defense
1. Cade
2. Duren
3. Ausar
Players with some hope of becoming positive two way players
4. Stewart
5. Ivey (a testament to how bad Ivey's defense is currently)
Great offensively; hopeless on defense
6. Bogey
7. Burks
The Developmentally-challenged
8. Sasser
9. Wiseman
10. Livers
11. Bagley
12. Hayes
The incompletes:
13. Monte Morris
14. Joe Harris

Based on his play in Washington Morris is far from incomplete!Invictus88 wrote:GreekAlex wrote:Invictus88 wrote:There's different ways of defining 'impact on winning'. Some do it positively. Others negatively. Both can do so at the same magnitude.

Re: Rank our 14 players in terms of impact on winning this season.
Expected impact on winning (not stats. not talent. not value.):
1. Morris - Already has a high VORP last year, will benefit from facing lesser talent coming from the bench.
2. Duren - Was an absolute positive by the end of last season. Should improve from there (unless they start Wiseman next to him).
3. Thompson - it may take a few months - just like Duren did last year. Should provide positive value by the Allstar-Break
4. Cunningham - I expect a few early struggles (rust, leadership, familarity, ...) but positive results by Christmas.
5. Burks - I see a reduced role for him, but a clear positive "microwave"-impact on a per-minute base
6/10. Stewart - undecided- He is the thoughest one to guess, depending on how they rotate the bigs.
7-8-9: Bogdanovic - Harris - Ivey
It's +O vs. -D for all of them. Bogey outperforms his weak D the most. Harris has the most questionable health, Ivey has the most learning and sophomore-mistakes to overcome. At least one of them will likely be gone by February.
10. Sasser - Will have some huge positive nights coupled with some rookie plunders or DNP-CDs
11. Hayes - If Monty finds some clever bench units to put Hayes out with 3 good shooters and a lob-threat, he may give us some Patrick Beverly or Ricky Rubio like positive fill-ins occasionally, without shooting the ball at all. If he somehow hast to shoulder any scoring load (like last year after Cade went down), he should be listed down there with the bottom tier.
12. Whoever gets our last roster spot should bring more positve value to winning than the players below. If not - do not sign him.
13-14-15: Livers - Bagley - Wiseman
Any of those 3 getting significant minutes seems detrimental to winning at the moment. I hope this may change. I fear it won't.

If we go by the numbers, Wiseman has the biggest impact on winning. Just not in the right direction.
Sorry, still bitter about that one. I’ll show myself out…

He’s our problem now.
I was pretty annoyed when he started over Duren.

22 year old athletic 7 footer on an expiring isn’t a problem.
Starting him was Casey’s problem, not Monty’s.

he was dead last in defensive EPM last year and it showed up all over the tape. dude is lost out there. absolutely no idea what potential weaver sees in him. to be fair that was a bad draft for the warriors to have a high pick, besides edwards there were no real great prospects.

i've been critical of bagley but i sincerely hope he gets minutes over wiseman and wiseman is completely out of the rotation. as annoyed as i was with the bagley trade (and re-signing) i was even more annoyed with the wiseman trade.
