Can you think of any good reason why a front office would do so little in terms of marketing for the product they are selling?

There are only two things that come to mind:
1. Ineptitude which seems to be the common belief
2. They are no longer interested in fostering a relationship with the geographic area they are currently in...

I have no affiliation with any galaxy even remotely associated with the Pistons organization. This is pure theory crafting out of boredom waiting for the next preseason game to come around...

We just built an arena. The team’s window to leave was when the team was sold.

Actually the window is now to sell or any time after Gores had bought it. He purchased the team for $325 million, and it has easily gotten into billions now so Gores can sell any time and continue on living in absolute needless excess for hundreds of years

Him buying this team was the one move to double his net worth essentially for free

Very true but I doubt the league would be open to relocation. The league has already pretty much said Vegas and Seattle are getting expansion teams. Other than an outlandish move to Vancouver, I don’t see it

I agree, the next new teams won't be from us. The most likelihood out of all scenarios (however low & unlikely they are) is that Gores is looking to sell but sell to a different Michigan owner that keeps the team in Detroit. So just the ownership change instead of all out relocation

I have never read a single sentence from any published source of Gores having any interest in selling. No trial balloons, no anonymous quotes, not a word from Gores or his circle putting out that there was any interest whatsoever in selling.

I think that lack of background noise, or any other evidence, makes the Gores selling theory fatal on arrival.
