Our roster isn't unbalanced. Most teams carry three centers.

Bey wasn't just bad on defense, he was the worst.

If he worked on his defense, as much as he worked out, he would still be on the team.

Also, he thinks he's Paul Pierce, when he clearly is not.

Saddiq would probably be getting minutes if he was on our roster at the moment, but he'd lose them the moment Bogey and Livers return.

No use crying over spilled milk, particularly if that milk was already sour when it got spilled. I wish we'd just cut the Warriors out and taken the second rounders for Bey. But it's not really an issue for me that he's gone.

He would play in our 2nd unit right now, Wiseman is just dead cap space.
I can't argue that. Wiseman has an unbelievable amount of work to do, to become even a bench big.

Bey wasn’t going to be good enough to be in our core and was going to get expensive. So Weaver takes a chance a young guy w potential. It didn’t work out but worth a shot. It’s looking like Bagley will work so 1 out of 2 ain’t bad.

Just no room for him, which even us fans knew the moment Weaver made the trade which is why we were all so baffled by it.
Duren and Stewart are obviously better and Bagley, while also poor on defense, brings an offensive punch to the 2nd unit that Wiseman doesn't. Injuries happen so Wiseman will get his shot again but, again, still not sure why Weaver made this trade.

If your bigs stay healthy do you think Wiseman will be traded? I know his option was not picked up but I have to believe another team will give him a shot.

Could be but I think the Pistons would need a center in return in case of injuries and/or fouls.

Pistons didn't decline his option, they just didn't extend his contract, as expected. So he'll be a restricted free agent in the offseason.

I think it was a bit of a personality thing with Bey. He wasn't going to accept it as Cade's team. Stew, Duren, Auser all are deferential team first ie Cade first guys, Ivey says the right things, but also seems to be being tested coming off the bench now. It seemed that Bey still wants to have his shot to prove he is better than a seocndary/role player in the league. I don't begrudge him that, AFAIK he wasn't rookie extended either - did ATL not offer, or did he bet on himself wanting to earn RFA offer sheets?

He did not get extended. He will be a RFA next summer.

Wiseman will be needed, as inevitably Bagley will get injured. Unless he really impresses in those minutes though he won't get a QO extended in the offseason. We probably should've taken the 5 second rounders from Atlanta.

Yeah hindsight and all. I think taking the chance on Wiseman budding into something special was worth the pu pu platter of second rounders. Players with all the physical tools except for the most important one (between their ears) are most frustrating.

Still a long season. Monty might be able to mold him into a good player, ya never know.

James excelled in school & averaged 3.5 or higher most of his schooling. He has the brains & body to play in the NBA. He needs to figure it out or he will be the next Anthony Randolph.

Wiseman is still young, so there’s still a chance he could become a reasonable rotation player.

But the way I look at it, Weaver wanted some more bigs. He took a flyer on a couple of guys w potential (Bagley, Wiseman). Didn’t cost much to do it. Made the two fight for the backup role. Bagley has clearly won (at least for now).

Maybe play Wiseman all year in the G league to get a lot of reps. If not, we just let him walk at the end of the year.

By all accounts, Wiseman is a nice guy and a smart guy. But basketball IQ and actual IQ are not at all the same thing.

Moses Malone was basically illiterate but knew exactly what he was doing on a basketball court. Wiseman seems to be the opposite.
