#1 picks are always going to get more minutes than the #5 pick especially if it's lead guards or in this case, players that are posing as lead guards. Draft position has a lot to do with how many minutes a player is fed, "earn" usually doesn't have much to do with it. Cade is sort of there by default simply because he was the #1 pick, not based on his play. I have little doubt that Ivey would put up similar numbers with the same opportunity.

Yeah, obviously Cade is going to be fed minutes. Last placed teams also tend to play their #5 picks who were all-rookie guys the year prior. Especially when the alternative is the least efficient player in the league (or damn close) 4 years running.

On with the tank. I suspect a tank until the Stewart pick goes for second rather than a first.

Can’t completely miss on the 5th pick of a draft with Ivey and it not effect a team. Duren was a save by Weaver, but thats still gonna hurt. We’ll see what Weaver gets in a trade for him eventually, but no matter what that’s dealing at a low value position.

How is ivey a miss because the Goofy ass coach won't play him but puts scrubs out there like hayes or let's Cade stink up the joint and play no defense?

Ivey most definitely isn't a miss. He averaged 19 points and 7 assists on decent percentages post-ASB last season and made the All-Rookie 2nd team (with a decent amount of people thinking he should've been in the 1st).

He's been misused this year and ironically is losing minutes in favor of a guy who projects to peak as a rotation backup PG.

Like I said I think Ivey is a good player and is only going to get better.

I just think Ivey and Monty are going to clash and Monty is pretty stubborn.

It’s going to be a miss for the organization since they will not get fair value for a top 5 pick.

Can we at least wait until there are actual problems reported between the two?

Ivey is the son of a coach. What if instead of a clash Ivey works hard and actually gets better at the areas that he needs to? Isn't that still a possibility?

I don’t think it’s drama or any reported problems, it’s that Monty thinks Ivey’s defense sucks and won’t play him. And Ivey knows he has to play. It’s not gonna end well. Monty demands his players to play a disciplined stlye of defense.

I just don’t see Ivey ever being a disciplined defender. We’ll always have a better disciplined defender than Ivey.

Ivey’s defense reminds me of Iverson, can’t stay in front of a cone, but was aggressive in passing lanes and reach ins and could get steals. Ivey will never be allowed to do that here, so it’ll be all his worst attributes, and he ain’t Iverson on offense.

The drama and reported problems are going to come from no playing time.

How was his defense last season? He is fine on offense, his defense is unaceptable. I believe he will be fine but he got a lot of work to do.
Why do people keep bringing up defense when cade has been awful defensively and can't take care or the ball? Why exactly is he getting minutes but ivey can't?

Should had made the trade with Houston and taken Mobley. The only thing folks can say about Cade is he's a leader. He isn't a franchise player imo
