We definitely looked like a different team with fully healthy Duren. The lack of a veteran backup five who can set screens and protect the rim is a travesty.

We also looked different in the first couple of games when defenses were guarding the Cade pick and roll normally.

They realized our shooting was so bad they didn’t need to.

The biggest thing that happened to us wasn’t an injury, it was a scouting report.

I think having a fully healthy, athletic Duren as a roll partner (he hasn't been the same since the ankle) was a big part of it too. During our very brief stretch of competence at the start of the season, it was all about that Cade, Duren, Burks trio (Burks being the needed shooter to make that combo work). But Burks went out for a bit, Duren went out for a bit, and we just haven't been able to put the pieces that made that successful together.

Not sure where to put this, but the Pistons are the first team in NBA history to have 11+ straight losses three times in the same calendar year. What an epic year 2023 has been to be a Pistons fan.

Potentially huge. He was our best player last season and in theory should really take offensive pressure off Cade.

That's interesting.... seems like it could end up being an entire season gone for him not sure it will be worth bringing him back in March/April when we've got nothing to play for. I guess its overall a win for people who would rather have Hayes and Sasser out there.

He is in a contract year, he will play.

This is extremely unfortunate, he's one guy that would really help Cade out.

Yeah I wanted Morris back. Having a guy who could playmake and spread the floor would have been very useful.

Morris's loss is huge, as it guarantees Killian continues to get rotation minutes which is not ideal.

To build a winning culture, winning habits, and a winning team. You need to get wins to do all of that. You can't just lose 60 games every season while amassing "talent" and "potential" and expect that talent to be anything. We need to be able to see players like Cade in winning situations before we commit to them longterm.
