Rockets currently have the best defense in the league this year, are #1 in allowing fewest fastbreak points which also means they are really taking care of the ball. They are #2 in fewest points allowed in the paint behind only Memphis.

Bojan made comments about staying with Detroit because Weaver said we're going to spend in FA and try to compete for the playoffs this year... we didn't spend that money and we added no one but rookies (Harris is done in the NBA and Morris is out almost all year) so Bojan is unlikely want to stay with a Detroit team that is both likely to shut him down and not likely to pick up his $20 million option for the following year. He's going to want to go somewhere he can help a team get to the playoffs and hopefully play well enough that a team picks up his $20 million option this summer.

I dunno- the Rockets also added defensive personnel.

Yes, and their reported target before the hire was James Harden but they got input from Udoka and they switched FA targets to FVV and Brooks to better fit what he thought he needed to help change that culture. Not sure if Monty had any input on what to do with all our cap space but we clearly didn't get anyone to help change the culture here.

I think starting Hayes was an attempt. We just don't have the personnel.

I keep having the same 2 thoughts;

1) Still early. Lots of injuries. Be patient.

2) Build around Ivey/Ausar/Duren and use Cade to get an impact player at the 4.

I like most of our guys individually, but the mix is off.

Losing is extra horrible with Johnny Kane calling the games.. He's goofy. Too caffeinated. Never saw a guy smile so much after 13-losses. At least Blaha throws in hidden references and talks **** about the refs, but with wit, not a frat boy.

I just want to know what happened to the 0.5 offense every 4th quarter. Either Cade is breaking off every play or monte is actually calling that cade pick 99 times in a row. Besides for the fatigue issue, the whole offense looks better when the ball is moving and we aren't 100% predictable. And yet every 4th, we just call cade's number every single time down while everyone else stands around and watches.

Based on what we've seen so far, there should be something like near equal billing with regards Cade and Jaden. The relegation of Ivey to mere bystander in crunch time is yet another obvious miscall.

Ivey went crazy! Anyone here thinking Hayes should have been starting over Ivey either is Killian's dad or has low basketball IQ.

Killian dad

Would luv to see Sasser with Hayes backing up our starting guards. Sasser can be that sparkplug.
Burks backup Ausur.
Start Bojan and have Livers back him up.
Stew backs up Duren.

But I'm...just not feeling it. I'm not seeing any learning curve- just the same bone headed or careless plays, and the same giving up the moment things get tough. Every game is a rerun. This team doesn't feel like it has, for want of a better word, CHARACTER. It’s not true of everyone to a man. But it’s true of the team. And that...really shouldn't be the case!

Rough.

If it bothers you that much, maybe you should check out until Bojan & Monte are both back.

I’m confident that they we make it a better product on the court and for development.

We’re not even a quarter of the way through the season. Give Monty time. It takes a while to create good habits and break bad ones.

Yes. I loved what I saw the 1st 3quarters. Guys were playing hard. Ausur was amazing. Cade and ivey were killin it. Stew and Duren looked good.
In the 4th we left Ausur on the bench too long cause Monty was trying to match up with Haliburton, who was on the bench. Should have put him back in regardless. If Bojan was out there in 4th instead of Livers we would have been much more effective.
We had Livers Burks Hayes Stew Cade to start in 4th and then replace Hayes and Stew with duren and ivey halfway thru.
Duren Bojan Ausur Ivey Cade should be much more effective for us to close games

I never use stats, but i'll make an exception.. Ausar was the only player who wasn't a 'negative' with +6

Stewart spent a lot of time putting a body on guys, boxing out, and had one possession with 5 offensive rebounds, so it looks alright, but my point is that stats don't tell the entire story.. A lot of his boxing out led to easy/easier rebounds for Duren.

Cade was looking a little gassed at the halftime interview.
