Which franchise player are you suggesting we should build around instead?

He’s suggesting we don’t have one yet and thus our rebuild is still at square one.

He might not be wrong but I believe we’re going to give it a shot with Cade regardless.

I have a lot of concerns about Cade personally, but like everyone else I’m hoping.

No, I get that, I'm just wondering what the alternative to building around Cade that makes any amount of sense would be. Franchise players don't just grow on trees. It's not like building around Cade means we stop being open to obtaining a franchise player or turn down good chances to get one.

The alternative is trading him for picks and starting over. Acknowledging that the basis of a winning roster isn’t on our team right now. Like we did 4 years ago.

The merit of that is dependent on where you place the odds of success with Cade.

I think it's more likely that Cade is a top 2 player on a future winning team than that trading him gets us assets that will gain us a top 2 player on a future winning team in the next 5 years.

Honestly if this draft was better I’d be open to moving him for a package from the Spurs.

Cade has no help. He wouldn't be triple-teamed if he did. Cade is a guy who wants to pass, also, while Ant wants to dunk on guys. Different players, but I am a Cade fan. I like Stew and Ausar, too, but we need better players, and if it means trading Duren and/or Ivey for older proven talent - sign me up.
