The toughest thing about Ivey is, Sasser outplayed him much of last season and we also really need to improve guard play we can't just have 4 young guys in the guard rotation. If Ivey has legit trade value, cutting him loose now might be the right move. That said, it doesn't make sense to me to like trade him for the 27th pick in the draft or something marginal like that. If we could straight up swap him for someone like Marcus Smart or Alex Caruso sure it makes sense to trade him but trading him for a late first doesn't really move us forward.

Yes but I’d rather trade Ivey for a decent 2025 first

Sasser, a rookie, was shooting 40% despite not getting regular minutes. As Monty said, "he's tough as shoe leather" and is much better than Ivey on both ends. Cade is a pg in a 2's body, and Sasser is a 2 in a 1's body, so they might make a good starting line-up.

Sasser needs to get better at shooting off the catch for that to work. I think we’re better off with more defensive length next to Cade though.

A team who watched him as a rookie and wrote his performance off last year because of Monty. Something in the teens would be great.

So you want to hang onto him until the draft order is known next year?

Nope - I’d take the risk of a mid team having a great season. Offsets the risk of Ivey having another bad year.

So you'd trade him for a lottery protected 2025 first, basically? Who do you think goes for that? Knicks?

Not sure that return is worth it for me, honestly.

I’d trade all of these players for 2025 first rounders. And I’d use the cap space to take on bad contracts with more 2025 picks attached. Hit the reset button.

I don’t think many think he’s worth more than a 2025 mid-first rounder. If someone does, all the better.
